[Misaki cosplay] An afternoon freeze-frame of the blue-black Qipao and slender braid - Image 1

This outfit of Misaki actually had a lot of thought put into the details. The wig is a long straight hair type with a grey-blue tone; the two hair buns on top of the head needed to be shaped with wire first, then coiled and fixed layer by layer. They easily fall apart with a slight touch, so my range of motion had to be controlled during the shoot. For the Qipao part, a matte dark blue fabric was chosen, and the golden embroidery on it was specially customized by a master craftsman to restore the tiger totem from the game's splash art as much as possible. The light blue frog buttons and tassel pendants at the neckline were also hand-sewn, and I am quite satisfied with how the overall color scheme turned out. It happened to be a cloudy day during the shoot, and the diffused light made the fabric texture look very soft without any harsh shadows, which is perfect for this cool-toned traditional Chinese style look. The reason I was holding that long braid dragging to the ground was actually because it was a bit windy at the time, and I had to hold it slightly to keep it from blowing everywhere, but it unexpectedly became a very natural action. The pairing of shoes and black shorts was chosen to retain the character's capable and crisp feel, while making it convenient to do sitting and stretching poses. This kind of static composition usually tests facial expressions and hand details more; I tried to relax my gaze and slightly tilted my head to let the shoulders and waistline form a continuous curve, avoiding looking too stiff. Every time I cosplay a character with traditional cultural elements, I learn a bit more about the tailoring of the clothing and the origins of the accessories, which can be considered an extra reward. Looking at the original photo, I felt that the stone texture of the ground and the glass curtain wall of the background formed a perfect warm-and-cold contrast, making the subject pop out more, so I selected this one as the first release.
