[Misaki cosplay] Blue Archive, New Year cosplay greetings in a Cheongsam cosplay and Black tights outfit

This photo set was presented through mirror selfies taken indoors against a white door. To recreate Misaki's iconic look in Blue Archive, a lot of time was spent styling the wig; the fullness of the double bun knots and the flow of the long side strands were specifically fixed to prevent a messy look. The overall black tight-fitting Cheongsam cosplay is the focal point of this look, featuring golden coiled dragon embroidery that winds up along the waistline, displaying varying reflective textures under light. The small blue knot at the neckline serves as a subtle accent to brighten the palette, neutralizing the heaviness of black and gold. The grey-and-black striped outerwear was draped over my shoulders and arms, presenting a casual state without losing the overall silhouette.

For the footwear and stockings, I opted for a semi-sheer Black tights outfit paired with high heels. This combination visually elongates leg contours, and when paired with the high-slit design of the Cheongsam, finding a proper standing angle while taking selfies creates a sharp visual impact. The background is actually quite everyday—just a white door and a wooden bar stool in a corner of my home—yet this home setting accentuates the delicate craftsmanship of the character's outfit even more. Since I shot this using my phone against the mirror, I paid special attention to keeping the composition centered without placing the subject too close to the edges, ensuring a clean and comfortable visual balance.

Shooting this set during the Spring Festival made the black fabric with golden dragon patterns feel especially fitting for a New Year cosplay, bringing a refreshing sense of new beginnings. Taking this opportunity to wear this outfit allowed me to record the process of bringing this character with Eastern charm to life. In terms of fabric selection, I deliberately chose materials with good drape—like the striped jacket, which maintains smooth lines when hanging down without looking limp. The Cheongsam fabric required a bit of stiffness to support the tight-fitting cut and pattern details.

Taking mirror selfies actually requires extra effort to coordinate hand movements and body postures—holding the phone steadily while posing in ways that fit the character's temperament. A character like this inherently carries a composed, independent aura, so I restrained body lines and avoided overly dramatic poses, maintaining a static sense of beauty. While organizing my photo album, I felt this set was worth sharing, as its accuracy met my expectations despite the limitations of selfies. For me, doing cosplay isn't just about putting on clothes; it's about capturing the character's spiritual core and recreating it through photography and styling. Color grading was subtly adjusted to retain black garment details without blowing out highlights, keeping the golden embroidery crisp. I feel that this casual, everyday share actually offers a truer sense of authenticity.
