[Ryuge Kisaki Cosplay] Blue Archive — Traditional Chinese Style Tension of Black Stockings and High Heels with Modified Qipao

Putting on Kisaki's makeup and outfit, the first thought that came to mind was how to weave that calm and reserved noble young lady vibe into my posture. A dragon pattern sprawls across the front of the Qipao, with a navy blue base and light blue floral frog buttons at the collar—originally very traditional elements. However, paired with a striped suit jacket draped over the shoulders, it adds a casual, effortless languor. Black fingerless gloves paired with black stockings and high heels in glossy patent platform style were actually quite tiring during the shoot, as ankles had to remain constantly tensed to maintain that elegant curve, but visually it indeed elongates lower body proportions.

Securing the hairstyle also took considerable thought. Double buns plus long twin-ponytails, along with that white curved horn headpiece—if it fell off, it would be tough to put back in place. During the shoot, I tried my best to ensure the headpiece didn't tilt, while the small blue butterfly hairpin on the side served as a finishing touch, echoing the blue at the collar. For makeup, focus was placed on conveying expression through the eyes; soft reddish eyeshadow and delicate eyeliner were paired with dark pupils. When facing the lens, I needed to immerse myself completely in the character—without needing excessive movements, simply raising my chin slightly or resting an index finger under my chin brought out that calm yet subtly distant emotion.

Actually, we tried several different camera angles for this shoot. The close-up shot (Image 1) was mainly aimed at capturing hand movements and lip shapes, with black gloves contrasting against the dark Qipao to emphasize clean line aesthetics. The over-the-shoulder half-body shot (Image 2) showcased side headpiece and ribbon bow details. I personally prefer the full-body seated pose (Image 3), as the essence of this outfit lies in how the suit jacket is draped—not worn conventionally, but rested over the shoulders. This relaxed styling breaks the formality of the dark Qipao nicely, and paired with a curved Chinese-style wooden chair, the overall composition feels very balanced and pleasing.

During the actual shoot, the photographer and I communicated extensively about angles. Because this Chinese-style Qipao is quite demanding on body figure—especially with its sleeveless design requiring clean shoulder and neck lines—I paid special attention to shoulder stretches and posture exercises the night before, hoping to present the most natural, relaxed state before the camera. Lighting-wise, softboxes combined with side rim light gave the navy blue Qipao fabric a silky sheen while fully accentuating the golden dragon embroidery.

Due to the Qipao's slit design, leg positioning during seated shots needed precise control—appearing long and slender without straining muscles too hard—making black stockings a wonderful refining tool. The platform patent leather shoes reflected light wonderfully, brightening the lower section under studio lights. The entire process was more physically demanding than expected, as combining black stockings and high heels with a Qipao requires maintaining an elegant posture constantly; yet seeing the finished photos capture that aura made it all worthwhile. I hope this photo set conveys the character's unique charm, as Traditional Chinese style Qipao elements combined with modern design always deliver delightful surprises in front of the lens. Trying different poses to match her personality, I feel the makeup styling and overall photoshoot atmosphere were captured well, and I look forward to more creative opportunities in this style.
