[Sakuya Izayoi cosplay] The Perfect and Elegant Maid from Touhou Project

For this shoot, we selected a classical study set, themed around Sakuya Izayoi from Touhou Project. Crafted from deep-blue velvet, the outfit boasts exceptional texture; its subtle jacquard weave looks remarkably refined up close, paired with multi-tiered white lace and a blue-green ribbon adorned with a chest gem for peak opulence. A voluminous petticoat was added beneath the skirt to secure the structured silhouette, giving the entire coordinate substantial weight.

To align with the persona of an elegant maid, I paired Black stockings with a pearl thigh chain to elevate visual sophistication, while pearl-accented high heels elongated my overall leg lines. As for set dressing, considerable effort went into curating the bookcases, complemented by vintage-style props like a retro typewriter, desk lamp, hourglass, letters, and an antique lantern resting on the floor. Paired with a vintage patterned carpet, the period atmosphere came alive instantly.

Collaborating with photographer Wakaba, he utilized strong backlighting and lateral rim lights to accentuate specular sheen across the velvet textile and the luminous sparkle of pearls along the legs, yielding outstanding photographic texture. During the session, I explored relaxed reclining poses on the carved sofa, alongside actions at the desk such as holding a silver chain or leaning forward toward the lens. Because the garment itself was quite voluminous, physical posture demands were high—requiring me to keep my core engaged and spine straight, while ensuring the skirt swayed gracefully when stepping forward.

Styling Black stockings with a classic Maid outfit resonated seamlessly with the character's temperament. Within the classical, refined backdrop, measured expressions conveyed composed authority tinged with quiet mystique. This finished set stands as one of my most satisfying works, and I hope this cosplay faithfully channels the unique allure of the character.
