[Takanashi Hoshino cosplay] Blue Archive: Poolside Summer Vacation, 2nd Anniversary Commemoration

Today the sky was crystal clear—the perfect time for a summer vacation—and on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of Blue Archive, I captured this set of Takanashi Hoshino cosplay in swimwear.

The shooting location for this set was an outdoor open-air pool where the abundant sunshine and crisp natural light created a bright, refreshing summer atmosphere. As the weather has turned hot lately, being able to shoot by such clear pool waters was truly fitting for the summer break theme. Before the shoot, I communicated with the photographer that I wanted to convey a relaxed, refreshing, and energetic mood, and the final photos faithfully reflected this vision in our Summer Film.

Regarding the character's presentation, for the costume, I chose a white cropped camisole top and ruffled shorts paired with a bright cyan loose-fitting long-sleeved jacket. This Outdoor swimwear styling is exceptionally well-suited for an outdoor pool setting—light, comfortable, and easy for striking various effortless poses in front of the lens. The wig was styled as her signature long pink hair tied into low twin-tails with red hair ties, complemented by the unique layered halo overhead and blue goggles on the forehead, with these prop details making the overall look dimensional.

For makeup, I went with a sheer peach color palette, selecting warm tones for eyeshadow and blush paired with light blue contact lenses to enhance the brightness of my gaze. Because we were shooting under intense sunlight, oil control and radiance in the base makeup were carefully balanced to avoid looking pale or greasy while accentuating natural skin texture. When the breeze blew through, the hair created a lovely fluttering movement; in particular, the drape of the ponytails was adjusted multiple times during shooting to ensure it never looked stiff.

During the shoot, we focused on dynamic poses to capture that summer ease. Sitting at the edge of the pool with my legs dipping into the water was one of my favorite setups; it not only allowed me to relax naturally but also highlighted the refreshing quality of the entire Outdoor swimwear look. The semi-transparent bright blue inflatable prop was also a wonderful accent—its color harmonized perfectly with the jacket, and whether cradling it or letting it float gently beside me on the water, it added storytelling and playful charm to the frame.

Furthermore, the white outdoor architecture and surrounding greenery provided a pristine, natural background. We framed shots across various spots including light-colored steps, stone ledge edges, and white sun loungers. The dappled sunlight and shadows in natural light added a touch of genuine life compared to studio shoots, freeing these cosplay photos from any stiff, staged feel. The photographer paid close attention to detail when capturing candid expressions, allowing relaxed smiles to convey the character's cuteness and approachable charm.

At this special milestone of Blue Archive's 2nd anniversary, cosplaying the summer look of a character I love carries special commemorative significance. Though outdoor shoots are demanding—braving the scorching sun while constantly fixing the wig and adjusting angles—seeing final photos this bright, natural, and rich in detail makes all the preparation worthwhile. The essence of cosplay lies in bringing those adorable moments from the screen into the real world through authentic costumes and environments. I hope the beautiful visuals earned from an afternoon of hard work become a unique summer memory for this 2nd anniversary celebration.
