This time I'm doing Evanescia from Honkai: Star Rail. Since the official outfit hasn't shipped yet, I threw together a Custom design cosplay using my own JK uniform as a quick preview during the spring cherry blossom season. Pre-production prep actually took a lot of thought. Because the character's core essence revolves around bright pink tones and signature rabbit elements, I immediately secured a pink wig and oversized bunny ear props. When selecting contact lenses, I specifically chose purple to create a harmonious color contrast with the pink hair. Rather than dramatic stage makeup, I focused on daily natural eye enlargement, using pinkish blush to echo the overall color tone and emphasize a young girl's lively energy.

Lighting during the Spring outdoor photoshoot was absolutely ideal, with sunlight filtering through flower-laden branches—you could even spot pollen fluttering in the air. Though the official gear was missing, I stayed true to the 'casual JK' concept by combining a basic white shirt, dark red ribbon tie, gray cardigan, and deep blue pleated skirt. This everyday look sparked a wonderful chemical reaction with the character, blending recognizable anime traits with real-life approachable warmth. To capture a relaxed vibe, I specifically chose a high-angle selfie perspective, which highlighted the tall bunny ears overhead while displaying the layered cuts and wispy strands of the wig. A gentle gust of wind blew past right during capturing, creating fluttery hair strands that fit her aura remarkably well.

After cosplaying for so many years, I increasingly feel that 100% lore accuracy isn't the sole standard—fan-made re-creations carry their own vital energy. This Custom design cosplay is a personal interpretation of the character, using everyday clothing to wrap her inner soul. For instance, despite swapping out complex in-game outfit details, I kept her signature cold, distant demeanor through subtle expressions and poses. Compared to large-scale professional productions, this mobile phone selfie format tests emotional expression even more while closing the distance with viewers, feeling like a casual interaction from a friend's perspective.

Looking back at today's raw photos, there were plenty of funny bloopers—some tangled in heavy wind, others taken at odd angles making my face look slightly puffy—yet these unedited real moments gave the photos a cozy, grounded charm. Waiting for costume delivery is often nerve-wracking, but shifting perspectives to experience a character early in casual clothes is a great way to relieve anxiety. I truly enjoyed this spontaneous process—no pressure, just shooting however I wanted.

Furthermore, digital gear limitations aren't a barrier to creating good work. This entire set was captured using a default phone camera without complex studio lights or heavy equipment, keeping total focus on capturing expression and gaze. Looking back, soft natural light rendered skin tones clean, while the pink wig reflected subtle shimmers under sunlight with comfortable textures. When selecting final shots, I picked two where poses felt natural and expressions stayed on point, successfully capturing the spring-exclusive atmosphere I wanted to convey.

Cosplay is ultimately a way of expressing passion. Whether pursuing high character accuracy or choosing Custom design cosplay like I did today, as long as genuine love for the character resides in your heart, the resulting work carries its own unique warmth. Completing this shoot under blooming cherry blossom trees today was a wonderful way to enjoy time with my passion. Once the official costume finally arrives, I'll aim for a complete look with refined props to bring Evanescia's original Honkai: Star Rail character design to life. That's all for today's post—hope everyone finds simple joy in their respective hobbies!
