[Evanescia cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail — Afternoon in the Cherry Blossom Garden

Combining this pink-toned styling with Japanese elements in a real-world setting brought many interesting experiences throughout the preparation and shooting process. Personally, whenever shooting outdoors, what I care about most is grasping the character's nuanced details, so I invested extra thought into the costume, hair, and makeup this time.

Starting with the costume: this uniform, featuring a white shirt with a red bow tie and a navy-blue pleated skirt, has a silhouette that flatters body lines wonderfully. The wide black obi-style waistband at the waist is a visual highlight—adorned not only with gold embroidery and tassels, but also a cute rabbit charm, which are all signature elements of the character. To maximize overall harmony, I specifically chose black sheer stockings paired with chunky-heeled tall leather boots. The boots feature gold metal accents and red-and-black straps, which not only add a crisp, structured edge to the Stocking outfit but also make the leg lines look longer and straighter in front of the lens. The pink wig was of great quality; the twin tails and long bunny ear hairpieces were securely fastened, staying perfectly in place even amidst outdoor breezes and dynamic movements.

Next, the props. To complement the venue's atmosphere, in addition to the essential pink-and-white tachi sword, we prepared two oil-paper umbrellas with different patterns—one with pink cherry blossom motifs, and another in deep red with a black base. Holding them as props made it easy to strike versatile poses; whether beneath the corridor or in the gravel-covered garden courtyard, they instantly elevated the Japanese-style photography aesthetic. During the shoot, we even borrowed on-site props like wooden ema prayer plaques and a Go board, integrating them into the frame to beautifully resonate with the character's mystery and grace.

Outdoor shooting tests one's command of natural light the most, but the lighting today was fantastic. Although the outdoor cherry blossom trees were artificial sets, under the sunlight, the petals exhibited a soft, velvety glow. Combined with the Japanese wooden architecture and corridors, it formed a wonderful contrast between light and shadow. I especially loved the poses sitting on tatami mats or at the edge of the wooden corridor steps; sitting with crossed legs was comfortable and naturally displayed the texture of the black stockings and heeled boots, allowing the photographer to capture many satisfying compositions from this perspective.

Regarding the character's temperament, this cool demeanor combined with vivid liveliness demands precise facial expression control. When facing the camera directly, slightly relaxing the shoulders and subtly tucking in the chin creates an aura of confidence tinged with aloofness. To do justice to this photoshoot, I reviewed extensive reference materials beforehand; although there's always a subtle fear of being OOC, I did my utmost to capture the character's distinctive charm. We switched between several shooting spots—from outdoor cherry blossom wooden benches to wooden fences adorned with prayer plaques, and indoor tatami tea tables—and changing the atmosphere across these settings gave the photo set much richer layering.

A location with such a rich Japanese garden atmosphere is remarkably suited for blending uniform aesthetics with traditional Japanese elements. Although the weather was slightly warm on the day of the shoot, the breeze passing through the shade of the trees and corridors felt very pleasant. This full photoshoot not only displays the charm of the outfit, but also documents my dedication to portraying this 2D character. I hope the final imagery allows everyone to feel this serene beauty.
