[Nagasaki Soyo cosplay] 10-Minute Speedrun Selfie Challenge

Taking on a 10-minute speedrun Selfie challenge, today's look is Nagasaki Soyo from BanG Dream! MyGO!!!!!. With such a tight window, I made deliberate compromises on hair and makeup. The base was kept clean and fresh, while the eye makeup layered a pink base with focused mascara and eyeliner, paired with blue contact lenses to highlight her faintly cool and reserved demeanor. For the wig, I selected peach-pink long wavy hair, detangling it with a wide-tooth comb and volumizing the roots beforehand to avoid a flat look. The bangs were trimmed to eyebrow length according to my face shape, leaving delicate sidelocks to contour the cheeks. For hair accessories, I pinned a bobby clip embellished with pearls and a sapphire blue gem along the side of the bangs, staying faithful to Soyo's signature look in the 2D original.

The wardrobe details are truly exquisite. This piece is a Vintage dress featuring an inner white high-neck blouse accented by vertical ruffles, pearl buttons, and dark brown floral embroidery. The collar has dark brown piping, anchored by a gold-and-pearl brooch holding the necktie in place. The outer sleeves are crafted from sheer grayish-purple tulle with cold-shoulder cutouts, bordered with white lace and dark brown ribbon bows. At the waist, a wide deep-brown leather belt with a golden rectangular buckle cinches the waistline nicely. Having only ten minutes, I was extra careful not to snag the delicate lace or tulle; steaming it beforehand kept it virtually wrinkle-free.

For the photos, I shot directly with my phone camera. Since the costume details are concentrated around the chest and collar, I framed a tighter crop focusing on the upper body and face, leaving breathing room on the left so the arm didn't look cramped. My right hand stretched forward holding the phone while my left hand gently toyed with a lock of hair, injecting dynamic life into the composition so it didn't look stiff. For lighting, I avoided harsh direct sun in favor of diffused window light, giving skin a translucent glow while letting the embroidery and pearl luster shine naturally.

In terms of expression management, Nagasaki Soyo always feels quiet and introverted to me. During this Selfie session, I kept expressions subtle—lips gently pursed, gazing calmly into the lens. To find the best angle, I snapped dozens of takes and finally picked one where my eyes were wide and the catchlights in the blue contacts were crystal clear. Even in a 10-minute rush, essential details couldn't be skipped: smoothing out the lace trims and keeping the wig curls natural was a must.

In post-processing, I avoided heavy skin smoothing to preserve natural skin texture, focusing instead on shifting the color grading slightly warmer so the pink wig and deep brown garment harmonized effortlessly. When preparing a cosplay, having your outfit and wig prepped and testing your makeup beforehand helps pinpoint your most flattering angles. Though time was short in this speedrun, I'm genuinely delighted with the final result.
