[Phrolova cosplay] Youwowo's Wuthering Waves Phrolova Mirror Selfie Looks Incredible

Today, taking advantage of the clean natural light at home, I slipped into Youwowo's Phrolova outfit and took several mirror selfie shots. Upon unboxing this costume, the most immediate impression was the sheer volume of scattered accessories—you really have to sort out which strap belongs to which piece of fabric before putting it on.

Starting with the upper bodice, the neckline features a white base overlaid with red ruffles, with ties behind the neck that need to be fastened manually. The large decorative pom-pom on the chest paired with trailing long tassels pulls the visual focus entirely to the upper body; adjusting its placement during shooting is essential to prevent it from blocking the chin. The lower half consists of a red dress with white floral motifs, structured into complex outer layers with a front slit and spliced black fabric, offering exceptional drape.

I layered this with sheer black stockings and slipped into red pointed-toe lace-up high heels. The ankle straps combined with the black stockings visually elongate the lower legs. The stockings have a delicate, smooth texture that creates a sharp contrast against the red patent leather of the pumps. Engaging the leg muscles slightly while posing keeps the lines tight and flattering.

The wig is mint green—a rather unique shade that needs a touch of styling wax to build distinct texture; otherwise, it easily falls flat.

The prop held in hand has a long handle topped with numerous slender red tendrils. It is exquisitely crafted and very lightweight, though one must be cautious while posing, as it tends to tangle into the tassels and straps on the dress.

Mirror selfie shooting is definitely an energetic workout. In the left shot, standing upright shows the garment's baseline tailoring in a structured way. In the right shot, angling my body slightly and crossing one lifted leg over the other instantly showcases the slit dress's strengths. The contrast between black stockings and red heels pops intensely on camera, extending smooth leg contours down to the ankles. Mirror shots don't require elaborate lighting setups—ordinary household ceiling lights paired with natural light filtering through the blinds beautifully capture the garment's highlights and shadows.

The cut and fabric of this outfit translate gorgeously on camera, where the red, black, and white clash makes great shots effortless. However, it is far from everyday wear: the long skirt easily catches on feet when walking, and arch fatigue sets in quickly after standing in high heels. The wig easily catches on shoulder straps when changing, so I always put it on last. When putting away the prop, the red tendrils must be smoothed out strand by strand to avoid a tangled mess next time.

The shooting process was admittedly a bit hectic; if tassels and straps aren't smoothed out, the photos quickly look chaotic. Plush toys scattered on the floor didn't even get put away in time and simply became part of the background. Now that the shots are done, the dress needs hanging immediately, the stockings need a cold-water hand wash, and the patent leather heels need a wipe down. Dressing up with this many details took considerable time, but seeing how the mirror selfie frames turned out made all the hassle well worth it.
