Cosplaying Phrolova from Wuthering Waves this time delivered an exceptionally potent visual impact. I spent a long time preparing for this photoshoot set. At Chongqing Dreamland Comic Exhibition today, thorough effort was poured into everything from the wig to the hand-crafted props. Phrolova's wardrobe is remarkably unique: long mint-green hair styled with gentle waves, paired with framing front bangs and a single-eye patch. I simply must highlight this red thread-flower prop—meticulously wound by hand strand by strand using iron wire and fine red thread; while lightweight in the hand, its graphic tension in camera is incredible. The spliced red, white, and black palette across the outfit is exquisitely tailored.
Especially stunning is the lower-body coordinate: a pleated black skirt accented by red leather buckles and small pouches along the waistline, paired with sheer black pantyhose (Black stockings) patterned with striking red linear motifs. I specifically paired these stockings with red platform high heels; this crimson-and-black contrast elongated my leg lines wonderfully. Throughout the shoot, I had to balance limb extension while maintaining steady footing in high heels. I adore the seated shot—crossing my legs allowed the red threads across the Black stockings to glow enchantingly under the lighting, while emphasizing the rich layers of the pleated skirt and waist straps.
Regarding the lighting, the ambient venue was dim, but the photographer capitalized on blurred background bokeh to craft dramatic lighting setups. To stay true to Phrolova's cool, aloof, and mysteriously detached aura, I exercised restraint in facial expressions, maintaining sharp, focused gazes. Whether in standing shots capturing the windblown skirt ribbons or seated poses resting a hand on my head, every frame sought to project an unruly, dangerous edge.
The energy at Chongqing Dreamland Comic Exhibition was fantastic. Despite the dense crowds, stepping into the spotlight with this intricate coordinate allowed me to immerse myself completely in character. Delving into the styling nuances: the costume fabrics revealed magnificent texture under direct illumination. The red petal accents on the chest and the crimson choker around the neck balanced each other without feeling cluttered, establishing clean visual anchors. The strapped arm sleeves—especially along the right arm—hugged my silhouette snugly without wrinkling awkwardly during dynamic movement.
For pose design, I intentionally opted for seated postures to highlight the stockings and leg contours. Crossing my legs allowed the glossy reflection of the red patent leather heels to dialogue harmoniously with the red lines along the stockings. Walking or standing for hours in platform heels is undeniably exhausting, so sitting down not only relieved fatigue but also commanded a completely different, authoritative presence. When shooting on location or at conventions, loose garments and frizzy wigs are always the biggest hazards. I trimmed and set the mint-green wig in my hotel room ahead of time, teasing it for optimal volume so it looked effortlessly natural. For the shot raising the thread-flower toward the lens, I angled my torso sideways, using soft shadows to accentuate facial contours and the texture of the eyepatch. Instead of forcing exaggerated theatrics, I relied on nuanced body language—a subtle tilt of the hand or shift of the shoulders—to complement the prop.
I paid meticulous attention to fine details. The eyepatch had to be positioned so it wouldn't overly obstruct my vision while resting naturally, with bangs trimmed precisely to veil its upper edge. The red thread accents across the bodice echoed the handheld prop in color, preventing visual monotony. Because long red ribbons trailed from the skirt sides, they added wonderful kinetic flow when walking or catching a breeze, yet they could easily be stepped on—prompting me to consciously regulate my stride and center of gravity. Behind every successful frame lies uncompromising obsession with detail. From locking down the base makeup to checking every buckle behind the garment, every detail dictated the final output. The expansive venue and lighting setup at Chongqing Dreamland Comic Exhibition greatly contributed to this set's success. Under high-contrast lighting, the red fabrics and black skirt carved out a stunning contrast. The entire shoot was seamlessly fluid, and sinking into the character's headspace was an unforgettable experience.
