The concept for this photoshoot was anchored around a pure white cathedral, with the overarching palette tuned to a divine, serene interplay of blue and white. To embody the distinct aura of Furina and Focalors from Genshin Impact, extensive preliminary groundwork went into both costume and prop design.
The core attire was a custom blue-and-white gradient gown. The upper bodice featured a corset silhouette embellished with golden embroidery and linear accents along the sides, pinned with a brilliant blue ribbon bow across the chest. The cascading skirt comprised multi-tiered semi-sheer tulle transitioning from aqua blue to pure white, imparting an airy, buoyant drape during motion. Matching arm wear included white puff sleevelets paired with over-the-elbow opera gloves, detailed with delicate golden prints along the rims.
For the wig, I selected a teal-blue wavy style, trimming and setting the bangs to eliminate unnatural shine under intense studio strobes. Crowned atop my head was a white headpiece with star ornaments shaped into an ethereal halo ring. For makeup, the eyes received special attention, using red eyeshadow and matching contact lenses to recreate the character's signature gaze over a clean, dewy base and soft red lips.
Regarding accessories, golden chain garters wrapped around the thighs, paired with light green high heels. The most striking prop was the set of colossal white feathered wings mounted on my back; due to their sheer volume, holding balance demanded strong core engagement. During the shoot, I choreographed gestures rich in visual tension: raising both arms overhead with wrists facing each other evoked a stage freeze or magical incantation. The descent path of drifting feather props was carefully timed to complement the feathers floating throughout the frame. The lighting setup was exceptionally bright, with the photographer using high-key lighting and backlighting from cathedral windows to forge a scene bathed in holy descent, while floor shadows and architectural lines provided natural visual leading lines.
The first image involved post-processing background compositing. To ensure seamless harmony, the subject was lit independently before blending with the gothic cathedral architecture, pews, white drapery, and candelabras in post-production. This required painstaking care with edge cutout details, matching ambient light, blown-out white glows, and logical subject shadows. The second image was a horizontal wide-angle panoramic frame designed to showcase the cathedral's majestic depth and spatial proportions. To avoid fading into the backdrop in wide compositions, open postures and the wings' expansive span filled the frame effectively. Portraying a fantasy character with such specific lore relies not only on wardrobe fidelity, but on conveying her tranquil, otherworldly essence through micro-expressions and focused eye contact—a complete and cohesive visual narrative from set staging to grading.
