Took Lynette's "Lily of the Valley Waltz" outfit to BW2024! It took a bit of time to curate and sort through these convention photos, but I'm finally sharing them today.

The dress features a strapless neckline paired with off-the-shoulder sleeves; sheer chiffon sleeves beautifully soften the arm contours. The skirt showcases a blue-to-white gradient; under convention speedlights or cool ambient lighting, the mint blue tulle deepens into a rich peacock blue hue with rich layered depth. A large black bow on the back and a waist tie maintain visual balance, complemented by a fluffy cat tail on the side. Even without a heavy petticoat, the skirt flares with a light, airy bounce during walking or turning.

Makeup-wise, the eyes were the primary focus. I wore blue contact lenses to accentuate luminous clarity, while the red star cheek decal served as her signature element. Given the chaotic venue overhead lighting, heavy contouring and highlighting were applied to preserve 3D facial structure under flash. An orange-tinted matte lip color provided a subtle warm contrast against her cool blue-and-white wardrobe. The platinum blonde wig was styled with subtle waves and braided accents, while cat ears mounted on top brought her 2D character likeness to life.

Shooting live at BW was challenging. The floor consisted of metallic grid panels, surrounded by cluttered booths and moving crowds. Despite the noise, authentic convention photos thrive on this raw atmosphere. Huge thanks to photographer Sakuya for catching dynamic character habits so intuitively. When I swung the translucent blue-to-pink gradient ribbon, she caught the fluid motion right on shutter click. The motion blur trail left by the ribbon in the foreground prevented static rigidity while extending color flow across the full-body frame.

Lightweight cosplay attire made navigating convention halls effortless compared to heavy armor. Although the off-the-shoulder cut felt a bit chilly in air-conditioned halls, staying locked into poses erased any awareness of temperature. Sorting through these frames, background crowds and booth textures actually yielded rich storybook moments. Compared to polished studio sets, candid convention captures with ambient clutter feel closer to the character's living state within the event space. This relaxed, spontaneous energy in dynamic snapshots is precisely why I love convention photography.
