[Furina Cosplay] Retouching Old Blue-Toned Genshin Impact Photos: Mirror Reflections Maxing Out the Atmosphere

Stumbling upon this photo set taken last year, I remembered how post-processing stalled halfway through back then. I was actually very satisfied with the raw photos, but something felt off during editing, so I archived them and left them alone. Digging them out of my hard drive recently, they still didn't quite look right to me, so I decided to pull this set of old photos out and re-edit them completely from scratch. Now that they're finally retouched to my satisfaction, it feels like giving myself a proper closure.

The layering of this outfit is particularly exquisite. The blue-and-white double-layer coat, paired with the feather-decorated top hat, gold accents on the cuffs and collar, black fingerless gloves, and gold chain accessories around the neck—all matched with a slightly cool and elegant makeup look. Dressed fully in character and sitting beside that massive court-style carved chair back then felt amazing. The hem of the skirt and ruffle decorations on the legs were also restored down to the finest detail.

Photographer @Oh Yeah PS Ran Out Of Memory Again had very creative shooting angles back then, especially that low-angle composition that fully captured the ground's mirror reflection. The reflection is indeed beautiful—because the floor at the venue was like a mirror, reflecting the entire blue-themed outfit, ornate chair, and long prop staff with gold decorations, creating a wonderful sense of visual extension. However, when looking at the raw photos after the shoot back then, everyone couldn't help bursting into laughter because the reflection intertwined the light, character, and environment so dreamily that it felt delightfully surreal and amusing. This mirror reflection effect really tests the synergy between venue and lighting setup, as even a slight shift in angle reflects entirely different light.

This re-edit focused heavily on adjustments to color tone, light and shadow balance, and skin texture. The original photos looked a bit grayish with shadows crushed too harshly, so this time I focused on enhancing clean, translucent highlights while preserving the cool, elegant layers within the blue tones. I also slightly brightened the light hitting my face to make my complexion look healthier. The ambient surroundings, including the flickering candlelight points in the background, weren't blindly darkened either; instead, their warm tones were preserved to create a cold-and-warm contrast, making the overall atmosphere much more vivid.

Now that the re-edited photos look satisfying, I would love to do another Furina shoot if given the chance. If I shoot her again, I might try different approaches to interacting with props in front of the lens, or experiment with facial expressions and subtle emotional nuances, hoping for softer lighting that better captures that cool, slightly melancholy disposition.

Photography and Roleplay are about continuous review and self-adjustment; every time I flip through old photos from different periods, I always discover changes in my aesthetic taste and expressive power.
