[Skirk Cosplay] Genshin Impact: Blade of Abyssal Frost

Today, I finished shooting this set of Skirk cosplay convention photos at the convention. Regarding the 'frozen lavender melon on the snow mountain' in the title, it's an inside joke related to the character setting, but through this set of photos, I really wanted to showcase the character's cold, mysterious, and profound combat aura. The prep period for the outfit and props was quite long, especially for the ice crystal greatsword handcrafted from EVA foam and clear acrylic. While it faithfully recreated the texture, it also made posing during the shoot much more challenging. The clothing color scheme focuses on ice blue, pure white, and deep black, with the black leather collar buckle and metal accessories at the neck playing a major role in conveying a cool, captivating look. My favorite part is the blue and white color scheme tights; because of the large gradient color transition, the tailor specially used laser transfer printing so that when I strike sword-swinging poses, the leg lines and colors show a great sense of extension, visually elongating my proportions. The wig hair uses silver-blue gradient highlights, which give off the illusion of being coated in frost when illuminated by the venue lighting. When capturing the first full-body dynamic shot, we had to overcome interference from surrounding crowds and lighting contrast. The photographer had me stabilize my center of gravity and repeatedly adjusted the blade's angle and left hand's forward reach, trying about a dozen times before capturing the most natural slashed freeze-frame moment. Holding this posture required constant core strength from my waist, leaving my lower back feeling completely stiff right after the shot. The second close-up shot was meant to highlight the details of the headpiece and neck area. The asymmetrical feather hairpiece had strong internal support, and the makeup intentionally emphasized pinkish-red smudging around the eyes to balance out the aloofness of the overall cool color palette. Personally, I feel the faithfulness of this cosplay largely depends on the prop weapon's texture and whether the hairstyle can hold up against ambient lighting. The convention environment that day was noisy and chaotic, but once standing firm before the camera, I needed to fully immerse myself in the character's mindset and face the lens with that cold, distant aura as if standing in the Abyss. This set of photos didn't undergo particularly complex post-processing or rendering; it relies mostly on the venue's light sources and the reflections of the costume fabrics themselves, giving the overall ambiance a genuinely natural feel. Every time I cosplay a character with a massive weapon, it's a test of my physical endurance, but seeing the sharp, fierce beauty of Genshin Impact's Skirk successfully presented makes me feel immensely satisfied. Although today's shoot was tough, receiving praise from so many fellow fans made it all worthwhile—that's truly where the joy of cosplay lies.
