For this shoot, I paired Furina's casual wear with Christmas elements, embracing a crisp, refreshing blue-and-white color palette. Just like the caption says: doesn't this little blueberry cupcake look tempting? To capture that cozy everyday feel infused with subtle festive cheer, I did a lot of balancing with my makeup and styling. For subtraction, I aimed for a translucent, luminous base without any heavy mask-like caking, ensuring the skin looked delicate and natural even in tight close-ups; for addition, I focused on eye sculpting. To recreate Furina's distinctive heterochromia and gaze, I selected high-saturation, luminous bright blue contacts paired with dramatic anime-style false lashes. I spent hours perfecting the geometric liner flick and glitter placement at the outer corners, aiming for an expressive, theatrical radiance that stayed impeccably clean at close range.
The wig was undeniably the centerpiece of this styling and the soul of the entire cosplay. For this white-and-blue gradient wig, beyond getting a seamless gradient dye, the wave along both sides had to be tuned just right—neither stiff nor unnatural—to preserve an airy, buoyant bounce. For that signature curled ahoge on top, I used plenty of hair wax and setting spray, hand-pinching the curve bit by bit to keep it standing firm. Crowned with a handcrafted mini Santa hat hair clip, the dimension of the headpiece came alive instantly.
As for wardrobe, a crisp white button-up shirt was styled with a charcoal-plaid ribbon tie, layered under a relaxed dark navy coat trimmed with gold buttons and piping. This preppy academy aesthetic made the character feel grounded and approachable. During shooting, to avoid static compositions, I brought along a green matcha cupcake and a blue plush seahorse. Often, posing empty-handed before a camera leads to stiff, awkward postures, but with these props—whether extending a small wooden fork with cake toward the lens or hugging the plushie with a pout—movements flowed naturally and dynamically. Expression control was equally crucial: candid captures like parting my lips to taste cake or throwing a subtly tsundere glance were all honed through continuous trial and error.
The shoot took place in an outdoor corridor around a shopping mall, framed by a glass curtain wall, tiled pavement, and touches of greenery. Working with natural daylight and ambient bounce created phenomenal clarity and translucency. In post-production color grading, I slightly muted background distracting tones to make the subject's blue-and-white palette pop, lending the imagery a refined, illustration-like feel. Ultimately, this set was about presenting a lighthearted, playful slice-of-life charm. Though not an extravagant theatrical gown, I poured my heart into channeling her vivacious and proud spirit through micro-expressions. After all, she is someone determined to protect the Traveler! Pointing the fork at the lens or putting on a mock-pouty face were all meant to bring out the most vibrant, living facets of her persona.
