[Nahida Cosplay] Inside Genshin Impact's Sumeru Jungle: The Lesser Lord Kusanali Cosplay Photoshoot Synthesized from a Self-Built White Studio - Image 1

The production of this Nahida Cosplay photoshoot was entirely detached from on-location shooting, completed as a post-compositing work using a self-built white studio. Rather than choosing to shoot directly at a botanical garden or a tropical rainforest, I opted for a background-free shoot in a white studio. This was mainly to allow the highest degree of creative freedom during post-processing, as well as to evade the unpredictable outdoor light and cluttered background elements.

Let's focus on the initial lighting concept. To match the mysterious and vibrant feel of the "Sumeru Jungle" and the "Lesser Lord Kusanali," I arranged a bottom-up warm ambient light inside the white studio, supplemented by softboxes to brighten the face and hair strands. The white clothing material retains excellent texture details under front-lighting, providing a solid foundation for environmental color tinting and rim light supplementation during the post-processing phase.

The post-processing and editing phase had the heaviest workload. If I were to write a Compositing Tutorial based on this project, this section would definitely be the core chapter. I utilized a large amount of real-shot vegetation assets and hand-drawn elements to perform multiple deep compositing adjustments on the image. First, I used tree trunks and vines to construct the framework of the picture, then arranged glowing mushrooms and leaves of various sizes around the character using depth of field to compress the character's visual focus. Glowing green lines weave between the treetops and the character's dress to echo Nahida's identity as the Dendro Archon.

During this process, the most crucial thing is the unity of "lighting logic." The white studio itself had a main light source. When compositing the background jungle, I had to ensure that the light direction and color tones of all post-implanted plants and light spots aligned perfectly with the studio lighting; otherwise, a floating, unnatural look would occur. To recreate Nahida's texture of dreams and wisdom, I layered multiple soft lights and glowing effects onto the atmosphere, ensuring the overall tone remains light and translucent even in the depths of the dense forest.

From the raw shot to the final piece, it went through repeated comparisons and fine-tuning. The final presentation of this Cosplay photoshoot aims to retain a 2D fantasy feel while preserving the realistic texture of photography. I hope this interpretation of the Sumeru jungle can be delivered through the images.
