"This dance is dedicated to you~" The inspiration for this photoshoot came from the iconic Dance of the Flower God at the Zubayr Theater. To bring out Nilou's fluid, gentle charm, I spent a long time communicating with the photographer on everything from fabric selection to movement choreography.
Regarding the outfit, the gradient blue iridescent laser skirt used this time exhibits gorgeous sheen shifts under changing light. To recreate Nilou's exotic flair, the deep blue blossoms and gold embroidery on the skirt were meticulously sourced and crafted against the character art. The off-the-shoulder top paired with waist cutouts strives for maximum canon accuracy down to the fine details. The headdress was particularly elaborate: golden coiled horns accented with blue gems, flowing sheer blue veils, and dangling pearl tassels. Balancing the center of gravity while wearing this headpiece was crucial; with its substantial weight, broader movements caused it to tilt, requiring the makeup artist to readjust its placement and re-anchor the pearls every few shots.
For the wig, I selected long straight orange-red hair, trimmed with blunt bangs in front and elongated sideburn strands framing the face. The makeup incorporated blue-violet eyeshadow echoing the dress's palette, paired with dark colored contacts and subtly winged red eyeliner, aiming to project Nilou's mystical yet radiant gaze on camera. A rich, high-saturation red was chosen for the lips, ensuring the entire makeup maintained sculptural dimensional depth even under bright lights.
The location chosen was a white cathedral-style studio set featuring stained-glass windows. The sunlight on the day was splendid, filtering through the stained glass and cascading across the white steps and draping curtains to create a sacred, dreamlike atmosphere. The white pillars boasted exquisite reliefs, and the scene was dressed with lush arrangements of white and purple flowers that formed a stunning color harmony with the blue skirt.
In exploring movement and expression, I referenced the effortless poise of Nilou ballet and dancing in-game. Although Nilou appears soft and delicate, she possesses a steadfast resolve to protect the Traveler. Therefore, when executing postures, I intentionally kept the lines of my wrists and skirt flow as expansive as possible, while imbuing my gaze with confidence and gentle tenderness. For instance, in the shot seated on the steps, I posed with one leg softly bent, which showcased the dress's tiers, filled the composition, and flatteringly highlighted leg lines. Performing diverse dance movements on steps in high heels proved challenging, demanding solid core control for balance. Occasionally the chiffon skirt caught on the heels or step edges, requiring me to quickly recalibrate and slip right back into character.
Early on, I worried whether I could truly capture Nilou's innocent, lively charm paired with the brave, steadfast qualities of a true dancer, so I did extensive homework replaying her idle animations and storyline quests before the shoot.
