Shooting this Genshin Impact Columbina Cosplay set in the rose garden under direct midday sunlight was truly a hardcore battle with the sun. Because of the settings related to Genshin Impact: Song of the Welkin Moon and the Nord Krai region, the style always evokes a delicate yet slightly mysterious feel, so I specifically chose this outdoor courtyard filled with blooming white roses for this Rose garden photoshoot.
The focus of this styling was mainly concentrated on the upper body and distinctive head details. The white wing-shaped headpiece atop my head reflected a very clean luster in the sunlight; its frame used lightweight materials, remaining relatively stable even when worn outdoors in windy conditions. What required the most effort was the magenta hair streaks highlighted within the long black hair—especially the low pigtails with cross lacings beside my cheeks, where braiding required pulling every ribbon tight and adjusting for symmetry to achieve precise visual fidelity.
The red-and-white color blocking in the outfit stood out vividly against the backdrop of white roses. The inner red vest was tailored snugly to the figure, and the large white bow tie at the neckline not only added layering, but also effectively softened neck shadows under harsh light. Metallic tassels and chains hung at the waist, making a crisp tinkling sound during subtle movements. The light blue arm bands and ties added a vibrant pop of color to the overall red, white, and black palette.
Shooting outside under the hot sun tests makeup longevity above all else. This time, I tried a light purplish-pink eyeshadow paired with light purple colored contact lenses to match the character's ethereal and cool gaze. Direct intense sunlight is actually a double-edged sword for Roleplay outdoor shoots—although shadows are harsh, adjusting angles properly can instead fully highlight hair sheen and white fabric texture, giving the final photos strong three-dimensionality and color saturation.
Sitting down among the flowers for photos required extra caution; white roses are beautiful, but their stems hide quite a few small thorns. To keep the light blue ribbons on my sleeve covers from snagging or getting torn, I had to readjust several times whenever moving positions. In the first picture, I chose to look directly into the camera, gently resting a white rose from my right hand on my palm, trying to capture the character's unhurried sense of serenity. The second picture was a candid shot during adjustments, where slightly lowering my head and eyes felt closer to a natural state.
Every time I cosplay, the happiest part is finding a real location that matches the character's aura. Although this Genshin Impact Columbina Cosplay photoshoot was a bit exhausting under the baking sun, seeing this set of photos in the flowers with vibrant colors and dimensional light and shadow made all the prep work and adjustments totally worth it. Bringing Nord Krai's unique peaceful ambiance to this sunlit garden happened to fit the distant, quiet feel of Song of the Welkin Moon perfectly.
