[Sangonomiya Kokomi Cosplay] Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island: Bringing Refreshing Water Hues Today

Shooting this set for Sangonomiya Kokomi actually took about three weeks from makeup testing to final photo selection. The costume contains numerous details, especially the large chest bow tie and gem texture; to restore that light yet gorgeous Water element feel from Genshin Impact, I specifically sought out several different blue and white fabrics to piece together. The outer dark-blue wave-patterned sleeves used matte satin, while inner sheer sleeves utilized highly translucent chiffon, presenting layered gradient effects under studio lighting, as if seawater were flowing.

As for the wig, the pink-and-blue gradient was the main focus of this hair and makeup setup. Those tiny fin-like hair accessories atop the head were handcrafted; though small, they brought the head silhouette much closer to the character setting. The black lace choker around the neck paired with a teardrop gem echoes the chest jewelry perfectly, leaving detail-oriented perfectionists thoroughly satisfied.

Set design on shoot day required quite some thought. We hung massive white and light blue tulle drapes in the background to simulate light refracting inside an underwater cave. For the floor, a highly reflective acrylic board was used to create a water-surface reflection effect, perfectly catching the sitting posture and extended skirt hem.

I was particularly pleased with the light and shadows in these photos. Sitting on the reflective board, diffuse ambient light softened and brightened skin clarity, yielding a clean, refreshing style alongside the cool-toned environment. For eye makeup, I selected peachy-pink eyeshadow combined with light contact lenses, giving my eyes a livelier look without feeling overly distant against the blue-and-white outfit.

The trickiest part during shooting was maintaining graceful arm lines while lifting my hand; since the sleeves were wide, lowering my hand even slightly would cover my face. Supporting myself on the ground with my left hand while gently raising my right, this angle was adjusted repeatedly to capture the most natural curve. Additionally, white gloves and white pantyhose added extra texture layering without stealing the spotlight, emphasizing the blue and white color blocking on the upper body.

This is essentially the embodiment of Watatsumi Island elements in my mind—combining the softness of water with the dignity of a divine priestess. Since the outfit features off-the-shoulder cuts, I paid special attention to shaping collarbone and shoulder lines, capturing that unique character aura alongside a slender neck.

Finally, regarding the final shot, although there is only one photo, I love the composition and color harmony deeply. Without overcomplicating post-processing, we relied primarily on practical lighting and set design to recreate that dreamy atmosphere. If there are more intriguing themes in the future, such as deep-sea settings or water-based action, I will definitely challenge this Anime cosplay again.
