This Hu Tao cosplay was one of the highlights of this cosplay convention. The preparation phase mainly focused on replicating costume details and optimizing props.

The choice of costume materials took into account the deep brown and red textures from the original art. The badge on the hat was carefully distressed and given a 3D effect. The black stitching at the cuffs and the golden tassels were kept as faithful to the character design as possible. The red bead bracelet on the arm and the metal accessories across the outfit were each cross-referenced with official art piece by piece.

As for the prop, a lot of effort went into crafting the polearm weapon. Beyond just the outward shape, the grip feel and weight balance were fine-tuned so that poses during the photoshoot would look natural and fluid without being bogged down by heavy equipment.

It was an absolute honor to collaborate with photographer Mengyou for this anime-style photography session. The lighting in the venue on the day of the shoot was quite complex, and the red-and-white background wall could easily cause skin tone color casts. However, the photographer's lighting setup was extremely professional—the skin tone came out looking very natural in the final shots, highlighting the layered contrast between the vibrant red collar lining and the post-processed red butterfly effects.

The crowds at the cosplay convention were very dense, and finding a good camera angle amidst the sea of people was quite physical. Daytime light was strong, so indoor shots utilized overhead lighting paired with side softboxes to create gentle shadows that refined facial contours.

The composite red butterfly and flame effects in post-processing added the perfect finishing touch, endowing the flat photos with dynamic visual tension and the character's signature quirky, mischievous charm. In particular, adding the little white ghost in the first photo pulled the overall vibe toward her cute side.

The wig styling required an extended amount of grooming to achieve a fluffy yet artfully messy hairstyle with delicate wisps along the edges, which is essential to support the character's aura. Even though the wig was well-set beforehand, running around at the convention still caused frizziness, requiring careful touch-ups before shooting.

As a highly popular character in Genshin Impact, Hu Tao's character design blends a playful, mischievous side with a deeply profound, hidden depth. During the shoot, it wasn't just about lively posing—the eyes also needed to convey the cleverness and confidence unique to the Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor in the game. This was actually the hardest part of this Roleplay attempt: costumes can be recreated, but the character's unique charm must flow naturally.

Beyond exquisite photos, the camera captured camera flashes and admiring glances from surrounding convention-goers, creating an atmosphere that made this creative process immensely enjoyable.
