The lens focuses on the star rails already calculated within the Omniscia; this time, I finally shot my long-awaited Fu Xuan cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail. Cosplayed by @kk, this set of Convention photos was born at the Wuhan Annular Universe Anime Carnival convention site, with huge thanks to the photographer on location for their precise captures.
Let's talk about the costume accuracy first. The overall design emphasizes a fusion of celestial elegance and cosmic star rails. The golden ring-shaped headpiece atop the head—resembling rabbit ears adorned with star patterns—is a piece of heavy craftsmanship, paired with dangling tassels and a gemstone forehead ornament that make it instantly recognizable. The wig chosen was an extremely pale taro purple, reaching down to the waist, which took quite some effort to style. Matching the character's temperament, the overall makeup was clean and clear, with eyeshadow and pupil colors treated in corresponding blue-purple shades, aiming to present a calm sense of controlling tens of thousands of stars before the lens.
The outfit features rich layering, with the main body combining light purple and white. The sleeves are designed as detached smocked bubble sleeves, and the off-the-shoulder look beautifully showcases shoulder and neck lines, while the round blue gemstone ornament on the chest evokes the feel of a divinatory vessel. On the lower half, a white waist-cinched mini skirt paired with white stockings forms a crisp White thigh-highs outfit with dark lace-up boots, visually elongating body proportions to make the standing posture look taller and lighter. This outfit also accommodates the convenience of running around at the convention, maintaining a sleek overall feel despite many accessories.
The most outstanding element during shooting was undoubtedly the star rails and magic circle props. Using glowing orb props and post-processing synthesized aperture rings, the photographer created a deep-space cosmic vibe. Purple and gold concentric halos surrounding the character, alongside faintly visible constellation lines in the background, instantly pulled viewers into the spacetime of a stargazer. While holding the bright purple energy ball, I consciously controlled my facial expressions to present a calm and confident demeanor fitting her personality.
Doing cosplay for magic-oriented characters at a venue like the Wuhan Comic Convention, the biggest challenge lies in mastering movements and charm. Fu Xuan's aura carries a calm composure of overseeing the whole situation, so I refrained from dramatic poses, opting instead for holding up, lightly grasping, or slightly extending my arms. Combined with the glowing orb and background geometric lines, this intentionally preserved a quiet, elegant sense of power. Light and shadow handling in these photos was fantastic—backlighting brought out hair layers, while ambient dark tones highlighted the texture of the white and purple costume perfectly.
The atmosphere at Wuhan Annular Universe was great, meeting many fellow fans. Although the event was lively, we completed this photo set with spatial depth in a relatively secluded set area. This is one of my most satisfying cosplay works this year, having poured significant effort into both detailed costume crafting and early styling preparations. Being able to capture such high-quality Convention photos in Wuhan truly lived up to all my expectations in terms of accuracy and final results.
