[Firefly cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, Frozen Moments of Blue and White Floral Sea and Light

A lot of thought went into taking this set of photos from concept to reality. The costume has many layers, especially the orange ribbon bow on the chest color-blocked with the blue-and-white jacket, along with black arm sleeves and a semi-transparent skirt hem, creating an overall aesthetic that feels both light and battle-ready. The wig is long and wavy in silver-white for this White hair cosplay look; securing the brown headband on top and the blue wing-shaped hairpieces on the side took a bit of effort, but the final outcome fits the character's temperament perfectly. Regarding props, that translucent greatsword is a real eye-catcher. Made of acrylic with a special coating, it refracts an ice-blue halo under bright outdoor light. Holding it is quite heavy, so I had to consciously control my center of gravity while posing.

For this Cosplay photography session, we chose two completely different settings. The first set was on a white fluffy rug covered with blue and white flowers, using soft light to simulate a dreamy atmosphere. Lying down, the skirt bloomed out naturally, paired with the blue translucent prop for a wonderfully rich vibe. However, I personally prefer the later sets shot against a solid blue background. That day's sunlight was incredibly clear and translucent—no excessive fill-light equipment was used, relying entirely on natural light sweeping across the frame. To capture the dynamic flow of the skirt and hair strands, we repeatedly attempted jumps and spins; particularly for the sword-swinging shots, it required balancing sharp focus in my eyes with physical extension.

There are many intricate details on this costume, such as asymmetrical tights—one side nude-toned and the other blue-and-white color-blocked, adorned with 3D bow decorations on the thigh. Putting them on, taking them off, and making adjustments took a lot of time, but to preserve character accuracy in Anime cosplay, no detail could be glossed over. The boots feature a white base with blue and black color-blocking, where chunky heels visually elongate leg lines in standing poses. The entire shoot lasted around four hours, during which I touched up makeup several times to combat sweat. Special mention goes to the hilt of the greatsword: though designed with anti-slip texturing, holding it for long periods still caused hand fatigue, so many poses were actually sustained by core strength.

While posing, I tried to maximize body extension. For example, in the seated pose, stretching one leg out while coordinating hand gestures showcased leg lines without looking stiff. The sword-swinging shot utilized an extreme low-angle perspective, creating a strong diagonal composition with the weapon and character. The photographer's guidance was spot on, helping me find the most relaxed exertion point in every frame. The fabric consists mainly of chiffon and rigid mesh net, allowing the skirt to sway naturally as I walked, which produced fantastic candid captures in the final shots.

This shoot allowed me to re-experience the joy of character embodiment—it's not just about wearing the outfit, but conveying lightness and resilience through gaze and movement. Every time I shoot an official set, from preparing wigs and makeup to adjusting every strap, it's intense physical labor. Yet seeing the flow of light and unified color palette in the final shots makes all the effort worthwhile. For post-processing on this set, we only performed basic color temperature fine-tuning because the raw natural light was already ideal, preserving the vivid contrast between teal-blue and orange in the costume. I hope this set allows everyone to see more multifaceted sides of this character.
