[Himouto! Umaru-chan Umaru cosplay] A Relaxing Moment at the 35th Firefly Anime Game Carnival

This Himouto! Umaru-chan cosplay set was photographed on Day 3 of the 35th Firefly Anime Game Carnival. Having carefully tried out the outfit's fit beforehand, this long orange cloak is truly easy and forgiving to wear without worrying much about body shape, though wearing it in the convention hall during midsummer was a bit warm—thankfully the air conditioning was strong enough.

During the shoot, the photographer had me try crouching on the floor (as in Photo 1), holding a Switch prop while wearing pink striped socks and slippers. This recreated the character's everyday lazy state wonderfully, but crouching for a long time made my legs numb, requiring me to stand up and reset periodically. Photos 2, 3, and 4 capture the actions of standing up and adjusting the hood. The hood features two ears, requiring me to hold the edges with my hands to shape it into an adorable curve. Posing was more demanding than expected since I had to keep my hands raised continuously while managing facial expressions to avoid looking tired.

Being Day 3, the foot traffic was slightly lighter than the first two days, but the convention atmosphere remained vibrant. Many passersby stopped for photo ops, and seeing everyone appreciate the character fidelity made me very happy. The photographer's snapshot timing was spot-on, and the camera angles were chosen well—especially the hood-grabbing shots, which perfectly captured that relaxed yet slightly tsundere demeanor I was aiming for.

The costume combined handmade accessories with basic inner wear; pairing the white top with red shorts looks clean and crisp, and with the bright orange cloak added, the visual impact is striking and instantly recognizable. The console prop held in the photos was a lightweight dummy model, saving a lot of effort from not having to hold a heavy actual console the entire time.

The trip to the Firefly Anime Game Carnival was very fulfilling, resulting in satisfying Convention photos. Although posing was exhausting, seeing the final photos made it completely worth it. As a delightful set of Convention photos, both the styling and experience were wonderful. If given the opportunity in the future, I might consider tweaking the hair color and styling angles to showcase different facets of the character. Still, this current set already demonstrates great Convention photo quality, receiving retouched photos right after the event wrapped up—efficient and true to character.
