[Columbina Cosplay] Genshin Impact: White Doves and Blue Ripples Under the Moon

Shooting this set of Columbina photos took a lot of thought from test fitting to final photos. Let's first talk about the outfit design: the blue-and-white gauze fabric is very demanding in terms of texture—it needs to convey a light and ethereal feel without looking overly cheap. The white straps wrapped around the legs required careful handling, needing adjustment according to leg circumference to maintain smooth lines without digging into skin, while the barefoot styling also put demands on foot positioning and posture power.

For the wig, black hair with red highlights is the character's signature. I chose hair strands with a natural luster and tried several styling techniques to give the red highlights at the ends more layered depth. Paired with custom elf ears for this Elf ears cosplay, the overall head contour came together. To ensure the elf ears stayed secure without looking unnatural, I repeatedly adjusted the taping and edge-blending steps to achieve a seamless fit against the skin. For makeup, we took a cool and ethereal route: the eye makeup didn't use overly heavy colors, instead echoing the costume through light-colored contacts and subtle blue-purple eyeshadow, while lips were a dusty nude pink.

For the scene setup, blue flowers and a water ripple platform were specifically used to simulate an aquatic environment. Standing on the water ripple reflective surface was a balance challenge—one had to strike an elegant gesture raising a hand up while keeping the center of gravity steady so the skirt drapes naturally without looking stiff. The flying white dove in hand added a touch of White dove element serving as the visual highlight, requiring a well-timed interaction moment to capture the maiden's affinity with birds.

To achieve ideal dynamics and lighting, a softbox was used to diffuse light over a large area, ensuring the cool white background didn't feel harsh but rather enveloped in a subtle soft glow. The transition between light and shadow on the neck and chest needed careful control, as slightly overexposed or dark areas would lose the clean visual crispness. This photoset didn't use exaggerated color filters, aiming instead to restore the character's cool atmosphere, focusing on highlighting the layered gauze skirt and 3D depth of props.

Every time I participate in Genshin Impact character Cosplay photography, beyond doing thorough prep work on costumes and props, learning how to immerse myself into the character's quiet, composed state during shooting is a precious experience. Columbina has a very unique aura—gentle yet distant. I hope through this work, everyone can see my understanding and dedication to this character, as well as the team's careful effort in pairing water ripples with light and shadow. The sweat shed during shooting ultimately frozen into such beautiful moments makes it all worth it.
