Preparation for this Arknights Amiya cosplay Blue gown photoshoot began early in the morning. Because the outfit was so voluminous, just fluffing and arranging the tiered skirt layer by layer took quite a lot of time, and the waist corset was cinched fairly tight to ensure the best visual silhouette. The staff prop is massive and quite heavy, requiring a proper grip to maintain a steady standing posture—holding it for extended periods was a real test of wrist strength. Fortunately, the shooting location was chosen at the Xiamen Portman Seven Stars Bay Hotel, where the indoor lighting was soft and the spacious European-style grand hall matched the attire beautifully; the high ceilings were perfect for unfurling the wide skirt. For makeup and styling, to stay true to the character, I specifically fine-tuned details of the colored contacts and eye makeup to give the gaze a brighter look, and styled the wig for a long time to achieve a smooth, silky finish.
The trickiest part during shooting was capturing the dynamic motion of the skirt. Because it consists of numerous layers of tulle mesh, while ethereal and flowing, it gets messy easily, requiring constant straightening to capture the fluttering moment. Posing in high heels also demanded repeated adjustments, utilizing mirror-like reflections on the polished floor to ensure the overall body proportions appeared elongated and graceful. The photographer, Yunjian glow, handled lighting masterfully; the backlit shots near the windows gorgeously revealed the translucent texture of the skirt hem. Although the entire styling was intricate and made walking around rather clumsy—especially with the long staff occasionally bumping into people nearby or dragging on the floor, requiring constant caution to avoid obstacles—every member of the crew was deeply dedicated to bringing out the character's nimble yet commanding aura. Throughout the shoot, we exchanged many thoughts regarding composition and subtle posing details.
The dress is adorned with abundant lace and pearl embellishments, boasting a delicate texture that translates brilliantly in front of the lens. This shoot deepened my appreciation for gown-centric character designs; fabric textures and jewelry details require meticulous patience to sculpt. Against the hotel's classical ambiance, this icy blue-and-white color palette looked exceptionally pure. Combined with lighting, the character's commanding presence shone through in front of the camera. Every shutter press was aimed at capturing the finest possible state. While wearing a massive gown with heavy props was physically demanding, seeing the photographer's camera capture the airy, floating lightness of the attire made all the hard work feel completely worthwhile. When walking, the skirt naturally flutters in wave-like ripples—a visual effect from this fabric that I absolutely adore.
