The finished photos of this Shenhe cosplay are finally ready; on the day of the shoot, we chose the lakeside at dusk, with the overall palette presented in backlit tones. I communicated with the photographer extensively beforehand, with our primary direction being to use the pre-sunset light paired with a paper umbrella and intricate headpieces to capture these textural details through Ancient style photography.

This costume features rich layering: a black primary hue accented with gold floral embroidery, ice-blue tassels, and a distinct off-the-shoulder design. The upper body offers strong structured support, making putting it on and taking it off somewhat cumbersome, especially since the red cords and shoulder straps required considerable time to adjust. The photographer primarily used a wide aperture to blur the messy branches and water surface in the background; the dusk backlighting cast a gorgeous rim light along the silver-grey wig. Because the light was so intense, a reflector was needed to fill the shadows, or else the face would easily become underexposed.

When shooting with the paper umbrella, one must pay attention to coordinating the lines of the umbrella ribs with the outfit, keeping the arms toned and defined. Throughout the shoot, to match the character's unique demeanor, movements couldn't be overly broad, relying primarily on eye contact, looking back, and turning the head to convey the ambiance. The daytime shooting environment was actually quite hot, and there were swarms of mosquitoes near the lakeside grass; nevertheless, to achieve the best results, I persevered through numerous pose sequences.

Post-processing wasn't overly heavy, focusing mainly on refining lens flares and removing distracting water weeds on the lake surface. Because this outfit has many gold ornaments that easily reflect harsh glare in the sun, highlights were slightly suppressed in post, while preserving the strands and natural drape of the hair.

Sharing a bit of practical experience from this shoot: when wearing cosplay outfits with metal accessories, always align the angles of the pieces properly, as thick layers easily crush gold embroidery threads; also adjust the neckline and sleeves frequently before posing to prevent wardrobe malfunctions. The texture of the paper umbrella complements this classical styling wonderfully, making the subject pop even more against simple natural scenery. Overall, the atmosphere of this photo set was captured with satisfying fidelity during this Lakeside location photoshoot.
