[Columbina Cosplay] Maiden of the Moon at Genshin Impact FES

For this Genshin Impact FES Shanghai, I chose this moon-maiden-style Columbina Cosplay look. From trial makeup to completion, it took about a month, mainly because the lace edging of the veil and the gradient pink-and-white tulle layers of the skirt required repeated adjustments. The red crescent moon badge on the chest is a handmade resin piece attached magnetically for easy wearing. The wig features black-and-red streak highlights, with large white feathers added to the earrings on both sides to recreate her ethereal vibe from official art.

The venue setup was richer than I imagined. The giant blue sculpture backdrop made for fantastic shots; lighting on its surface created an ice-crack texture, paired with a ring of glowing blue flowers at the base, creating a cool-toned contrast against the pink-and-white Wedding dress cosplay outfit. Sitting in front of the sculpture for a few shots, with the skirt spread out, my ankles with lace-up straps and white high heels were nicely revealed. In the photo, I held a blue iris prop, echoing the blue light of the sculpture for unified visual harmony.

Another location was an indoor booth featuring a full 2D standee wall behind, a red sofa, a red rose wall, and red-and-yellow checkered floor tiles. Lighting here was warmer, entirely different from the cool-toned scenes earlier. I sat directly beside a bouquet of red roses, skirt fan-spread and veil half-draped; staff on site even helped scatter flower petals on the ground, bringing the atmospheric mood to full power. White stockings and strapped shoes maintained crisp texture under this warm light, naturally accentuating leg lines.

Regarding makeup, I used cool-toned eyeshadows to align with character lore, drawing slightly elongated eyeliner and applying pale pink-white lip color paired with aqua blue lenses to avoid heavy makeup look. During the shoot, I maintained natural expressions without overly forced poses—the character's temperament leans quiet, so overly dramatic movements would disrupt the serene mood.

The mailbox and starry night backdrop at the booth was also great for interaction. I posed standing holding flowers, lifting the veil slightly to reveal my face. Securing the veil actually took extra care, pinning it to the wig with hairpins and invisible clips to prevent wind from blowing it messy. Many photographers and fellow enthusiasts at the venue were very polite—some even pointed out when my skirt dragged on the floor and helped adjust it. This standing photo was the one I was asked about most on-site, as the veil's light translucency allowed eyes to remain clearly visible.

Overall, the Genshin Impact FES booth design was done with great care, featuring distinct themes across different zones with ample lighting and props that were super friendly to cosplayers. Although this costume had intricate details, moving around was relatively easy—aside from minding the long train to avoid stepping on it, it didn't hinder walking. Sorting through photos, I noticed how pink tulle layers reflected light differently across angles and lighting, shifting between magenta and pale pink—a fun result of mixing natural and artificial light.

Time was tight on shooting day, but the output exceeded my expectations. The costume design naturally leaves ample negative space, such as exposed shoulders and neckline bow knots, perfect for showcasing depth on camera. I tried to keep my body relaxed, keeping hand movements natural like holding flowers or resting gently on the chest, giving the photos a narrative storytelling feel rather than a simple garment display.

Ultimately, cosplay is about recreation and creation, where on-site atmosphere plays a vital role. The setup at Genshin Impact FES provided a wonderful creative space, and I hope to share my on-site experiences and costume details with everyone through these Convention photos.
