This time at the Kyushu anime convention, I brought the pledge Bride cosplay look for Laffey cosplay. The overall costume design is based on a pure white tube-top long dress, combined with Azur Lane's signature blue-and-white color scheme. There is a deep blue bow at the neckline, while the blue-and-white striped corset at the waist echoes the cascading long ribbons, accented with white fluffy pom-poms on the side. The white twin-tail hair paired with pink bunny ears and red contact lenses makes the character look playful amidst her signature languor.
The spherical bouquet in hand is also a major highlight; the patchwork of white pearls and blue-and-white ribbons is richly layered and highly decorative when held. The lighting on the day of the convention was fantastic. These photos were specially taken around dusk, where the modern glass curtain wall in the background created gorgeous bokeh flares and rim lighting under the backlit sun. Since it was an outdoor convention setting with many passersby around, the photographer used a wide aperture to softly blur the background, highlighting the subject while wonderfully preserving the lightweight, ethereal feel of the bridal dress.
During the actual shoot, this tube-top style dress really tested the neckline and shoulder silhouette, demanding more delicate coordination with the hairstyle and accessories. To prevent the headpiece from looking messy, the positions of the bunny ears and blue flowers were firmly fixed. The white wig has a great texture, reflecting a natural halo under the light. Compared to the combat form, this styling carries more softness and a sense of ritual, capturing the character's daily life and oath-pledged moments.
The subtle reflection from the ground was just right, making the overall colors look warm and gentle rather than harsh. Preparing this look took quite some thought—from selecting the contact lens shade to every ribbon binding on the bouquet, all aiming to recreate the graceful, slender presence of the character under the sunlight. Watching the skirt hem flutter in the breeze with light filtering through the hair strands truly brought out her unique charm. Many people on site recognized the character and came over for photos, sharing lots of friendly feedback.
The atmosphere at the Kyushu anime convention was wonderful. Shooting in such an environment not only hones one's on-camera expression but also lets you feel everyone's shared passion for ACG culture. I hope these Convention photos convey the exquisite craftsmanship of this bridal attire, and my heartfelt thanks go out to the photographer for capturing every moment. This is my most satisfying convention shoot recently and a great validation of my cosplay journey.
