The core of this Puppet Cosplay shoot was to capture that gorgeous yet mysteriously detached temperament of the character. Looking at the details of the hair and makeup, the blonde hair paired with a lace headband, combined with the complex dress interweaving black, white, and red, every layer serves the overall dark and elegant tone.

In terms of scene selection, we specially picked a highly European-style studio with a retro vibe. The dark red velvet curtains, intricately carved antique grandfather clock, and that wide black leather sofa together build a mysterious space that seems to exist within an ancient theater. To keep the frame from looking gloomy, the warm yellow tone emitted by the tall feather lamp on the side became the key to breaking the dark background, while also providing an extremely soft diffuse reflection light for the character's face.

During the shooting process, we made extensive use of the environment's characteristics. Especially that highly reflective glossy marble floor beneath our feet, which reflected the light sources, furniture, and the posture of the figure, creating an exceptionally rich mirror effect that instantly gave the flat photos a descending sense of depth. To balance the heavy weight of the skirt hem with the lightweight feel of the sitting posture, we repeatedly experimented with the depth of leaning back and the placement angles of both legs, finally settling on the posture in the picture. This both allows the texture of the white stockings to be fully displayed under the light and lets the red and black folds of the skirt hem spread out naturally.

The post-processing barely did any complex treatments, primarily relying on the high contrast shaped by the lighting in the early stage. The side backlight traced a clear head silhouette, while the fill light from the side-front guaranteed the completeness of facial expressions. Every frame in the visuals is attempting to align with the character's pride and shrewdness. The black leather padding, golden outlines, and cool-toned metallic candle holders—these small details control the overall tone just right.

During the shoot preparation period, the combination of this feather lamp and black sofa was actually the very first thing locked down. Such a configuration naturally carries the fantasy vibe of a retro ball, and it also beautifully digests the massive blocks of black and white in this costume. During the shoot, the intense light coming from the side not only highlighted the intricate 3D ruffles on the skirt hem but also left a heavy silhouette on the red velvet curtain behind me, which perfectly fits the character's setting of being in the shadows and hard to read. Because it was a concretized shoot in a European-style studio, any unnatural pose would look extremely out of place on set. To find the support point that best matched this sofa, I repeatedly adjusted the center of gravity of my waist and legs. The combination of white stockings and high heels is actually quite easy to slip in; it requires rapidly fixing the angle the moment the posture is set, allowing the lines of the entire leg to present a smooth extension in the frame to form a contrast with the dark armrest behind. Authentic location shooting is just like that—the degree of match with the scene each time determines the ceiling of the final photos. Although putting on and taking off this multi-layered outfit was indeed a bit exhausting, the final presented calm and gorgeous visual sensation made all the shooting attempts entirely worth it for this piece of Cosplay photography.
