The convention shots from CICF Day 2 are finally sorted out—this Gongsun Li (Gongsun Li Cosplay) look was an absolute showstopper on the exhibition floor. To recreate the character's classic in-game aesthetic, I invested extensive effort into cosmetics, wig styling, and garment details. For the wig, I selected a soft peach-blonde tone, carefully trimming the blunt straight bangs and framing sideburns so each strand held clean definition. The fluffy rabbit ears perched on top are the true soul of this styling; to keep them standing upright without tilting while walking and posing all day, I secured them firmly with generous styling spray and hidden bobby pins, keeping them rock-solid from start to finish.
For cosmetics, I wore golden-amber contact lenses faithful to the character concept. The eye makeup emphasized diffused gradients at the outer corners to elongate the eyes, aiming to capture her agile, spirited charm with a subtle edge of cool sharpness. Crimson leaf-shaped hair ornaments flanking the face and a black choker around the neck brought nuanced depth. The modified red-and-white kimono features cold-shoulder cutouts, with sweeping bell sleeves patterned with subtle floral jacquard. The dimensional golden geometric petal crest over the bust caught the ambient daylight with stunning metallic luster.
On the lower half, I styled a black maxi skirt whose high side slit not only facilitated mobility, but naturally framed sleek leg contours while seated or posing. The sprawling gilded vine-and-branch embroidered appliqués tracing the hem shimmered under direct sunlight, making it my absolute favorite feature. For footwear, crimson platform high heels adorned with white pom-poms visually elongated leg proportions while injecting playful anime sweetness. A fluffy white tail hung at the back—though only subtly peeking out in the frames, it added unmistakable character flavor.
We shot outdoors along contemporary city streets. The photographer, NightDiva, was exceptionally professional, cleverly deploying a black folding stepladder as a staging prop. Sitting elevated on the ladder not only carved out flattering full-body proportions, but created deep compositional perspective against the backdrop of lush green trees and glass curtain walls. The red-and-white paper umbrella in my hands served as both the ultimate canon prop and a compositional marvel: lowering the parasol brim slightly and casting my gaze from beneath, illuminated by natural backlighting, let the translucent paper glow with rich atmospheric depth. For the long ceremonial staff adorned with golden tassels and a clear orb, steady wrist control was essential to let the tassels drape with natural fluidity.
Perching on a backless ladder to sustain photogenic poise demanded engaging the core continuously, making fine adjustments to the angle of crossed legs and the drape of the skirt. When gentle breezes caught the wide sleeves and billowed through the slit to reveal the leg line, the lens froze that exact moment in time. This collision of ancient oriental romance and modern street flair delivered results I'm genuinely thrilled with. Compared to studio work, outdoor street daylight and ambient scenery gave each photograph room to breathe.
