This red kimono styling for Gongsun Li required immense thought and care, from makeup and styling to the studio shoot itself. For the wardrobe, I chose a vibrant scarlet wide-sleeved outer robe adorned with exquisite golden blossoms and rising sun crest patterns; the sleeves carry a rich drape, billowing with fluid elegance during dynamic movements. The inner garment is white, accented across the chest and waist with golden snowflake embroidery and turquoise ribbons, completed by a sheer, translucent white gauze skirt that adds lush visual dimension. The headpiece features her signature white bunny ears with pink inner lining, paired with a bright orange long straight wig cut with blunt bangs to ensure a pristine 2D anime aesthetic under the lens.

The shoot took place at the Zhengzhou Shiyue Cosplay Experience Studio, where the set craftsmanship was truly remarkable. We constructed an oriental classical scene centered around an illuminated circular lightbox simulating a glowing full moon draped with suspended golden lines. To echo the scarlet robe, lush red maple leaves alongside pink and yellow silk peonies framed the perimeter, flanked by wooden tatami platforms and folding screens. The floor was laid with a white faux-fur rug, accented by paper lanterns and antique scrolls. Holding a traditional red paper parasol as a key prop under the interplay of light and shadow instantly elevated the cinematic ambiance to its peak.

In terms of pose design, I experimented with multiple stances to highlight the outfit's distinct traits. Standing with the umbrella emphasized regal elegance and presence, casting a slightly averted glance to preserve a serene, cool detachment. Sitting upon the wooden platform with one leg draped naturally and an arm raised softly, the parasol's rim added layered framing to the shot. Reclining on the fur rug was my absolute favorite series—the legs extended effortlessly with the body softly curved, and as warm lighting grazed the golden textile patterns, it brought forth an indolent, gently mysterious charm. Lying back on the floor, the photographer captured high-angle downward portraits where the orange hair cascaded outward, which, coupled with a focused gaze, infused the composition with quiet narrative depth.

For makeup, to complement the fiery orange wig and scarlet wardrobe, I deepened the eye contours with reddish-pink tones to brighten the complexion while maintaining a luminous, pristine porcelain base. The photographer dedicated extensive care to lighting setups; warm amber key lights not only saturated the crimson hues of the dress, but also made skin tones look translucent and glowing. Through this shoot, I truly felt that exceptional Cosplay photography hinges on the seamless harmony of costumes, props, makeup, set design, and post-production. Although moving through continuous poses in long kimono sleeves inside the studio was rather warm, all fatigue evaporated the moment I saw the final images.
