This set of Miyazono Kaori cosplay photos is the work I have poured the most effort into recently. From conceiving the idea to the final photoshoot results, it took about two weeks of preparation, with the primary challenge being the texture of the costume and props. For the blonde wig, I chose a bright flaxen gold, adjusting the slightly wavy layers and the curvature of the bangs multiple times to match the casual yet gentle vibe of the original work as closely as possible. The school uniform cosplay blazer was custom-made with a crisp tailoring, paired with a light blue shirt and a red-and-white striped tie—not a single iconic element was left behind.
The weather on the day of the shoot was wonderful, and we specifically rushed to the park for location shooting during the latter half of the cherry blossom season. To capture the scattered sheet music, we printed a thick stack of staff sheets with vintage handwritten markings in advance and spread them casually across the grass, creating a very soft color contrast against the green lawn. Because the wind was quite strong, the sheets kept blowing all over the place, but it was precisely this uncontrollable dynamic that captured the beautiful atmosphere of sheet music scattered across the ground and fluttering in the wind during this cherry blossom scene cosplay.
In terms of pose design, we experimented with several different emotions. For instance, in the shot where I lay down on the grass, I intentionally closed my eyes to feel the strings on my body and the changes in the light, trying to interpret that quiet and perhaps slightly lonely moment. On the other hand, the frame where I sat up holding a sheet of white paper was meant to express a sense of interaction, as if delivering something beautiful to the person in front of the lens. The shot of looking back while playing the violin under the cherry blossom tree is the soul of the entire photo set. To capture that exact moment, the photographer needed to perfectly grasp the natural falling petals and the refracted light, and I did my best to maintain an elegant posture while holding the violin after finding the right angle for this violin cosplay. The wig was prone to getting messy during this process, but fortunately, our preparations were thorough, allowing for quick touch-ups at any time.
Regarding the makeup, the focus this time was a translucent feel and a hint of a melancholic atmosphere. Instead of using overly vibrant lipstick shades, it emphasized the innocent and clear nature of the eye makeup, enhancing the spirit of the gaze through inner eyeliner and meticulous detailing. While shooting this cosplay, spring melodies constantly echoed in my mind. The phrases 'an April without you anymore' and 'memories are not allowed to reset' actually speak to my core understanding of this character. She is not simply fragile; the immense vitality she radiates during her performances is her true brilliance.
For the post-processing editing, we did our best to preserve the natural light of the original shots without overusing filters, mainly adjusting the overall contrast of light and dark along with the color saturation of the cherry blossoms. With the grass, clear ripples, and cherry blossom branches swaying in the wind, having these natural elements beautifully framed within the image is, in my opinion, completely sufficient to present that spring filled with music and emotion where Miyazono Kaori belongs.
