This time, I shot a set of spring teasers directly with the Sony A7M5. Actually, I have been preparing this look for Kaori Miyazono for quite some time. From the white paneled short-sleeve top and the curvature of the pink skirt hem to the color choice of the bright yellow flat shoes, I tried my best to recreate that energetic musical girl vibe inherent to the character. In terms of props, I specially prepared red and blue instrument storage bags, as well as that white melodica. The seesaws and swing sets in the park happened to provide a shooting scene filled with a slice-of-life atmosphere.
The sunlight was incredibly abundant on the day of the shoot, with spring cherry blossoms in full bloom. Petals were drifting and falling onto the stone brick ground, and the light and shadow filtered through the gaps between the petals, forming beautiful dappled light spots. Under this alternating environment of backlight and strong light, the color science of the Sony A7M5 itself demonstrated a huge advantage. The out-of-camera colors were exceptionally translucent and natural, requiring no tedious adjustments to the tones. Sony's skin tone reproduction complemented the pink and white of the cherry blossoms, giving the overall composition of the photos a clean frame while carrying a texture intertwined with the coolness and warmth of spring.
Initially, we planned to shoot as close to dusk as possible, but the morning light was simply too good, so we captured many desired moments ahead of schedule. Small props and the interaction with the location are very important. For instance, when blowing the melodica on the bench, there was truly a lightweight sensation as if walking through a musical world. When turning around with the red instrument case on my back, the traffic and street signs on the road perfectly formed an excellent background depth of field.
The shooting process was relatively lighthearted and pleasant. My partner also repeatedly praised the convenience of out-of-camera results while looking at the real-time bokeh effect in the viewfinder. For a Cosplayer daily life that frequently requires shooting on location, this straight-out-of-camera style that can reduce post-processing pressure is truly a huge relief. Although it's just a quick-cut teaser by nature, the emotions in every single photo are kept as natural and relaxed as possible. Spring is indeed a season that easily triggers memories. This kind of romance occasionally encountered at a street corner is perhaps the most healing part of cosplay in the real world. I hope this teaser set can make everyone feel a touch of freshness akin to a spring breeze amidst their complicated lives.
