[Kousei Arima and Kaori Miyazono Cosplay] The April Without You Is Coming - Image 1

The April without you is coming. This line usually accompanies the breeze at the end of spring, accurately striking the softest part of memory. Before the flower branches drooped completely, my partner and I finalized this school uniform-style campus-style photo shoot.

For the scene in the photos, we chose a location next to an old street lined with pink flowering trees. The 4 PM sunshine carried a warm yellow tone, filtering down through the gaps in the leaves and petals, perfectly illuminating the golden wig for the Kaori Miyazono character. In terms of costumes, we deliberately recreated that crisp feeling: grey blazer jackets paired with light blue shirts, the red and white striped tie and black-rimmed glasses at the guy's collar, and the girl's over-the-knee black socks and blue-and-white plaid skirt. Every detail fits the daily school life in this anime recreation.

The interaction that tested our chemistry the most in this photo was that gentle head-pat. To make the movement look natural enough, we repeatedly tried out several angles. The girl sits on the curb, slightly lowering her head, holding a few fallen blossoms in both hands, while the guy gently places his hand down with a hint of youthful, innocent care. The eyes don't need forced effort; once the state relaxes, that exclusive youthful atmosphere emerges. Passersby occasionally glanced at us during the shoot, but we quickly immersed ourselves in the character relationship.

As cosplayers, we always care deeply about the lighting and shadow atmosphere of the photoshoot. The photographer specifically used a large aperture and backlighting for this Cosplay photography session, heavily blurring the highly saturated pink flowering trees in the background. Paired with the grey asphalt road on the ground, the colors created a classic Japanese film style. The focus of post-processing wasn't on excessive retouching but on adjusting the HSL to make the texture of the grey school uniform more prominent, with an overall tone that leans soft and low-contrast, reducing noise and adding a bit of an airy feel. This was the only way to get closer to the healing emotions we wished to express.

Actually, rewatching Your Lie in April at this time every year brings new reflections on the characters. Turning those silent details from the animation into concrete frames through cosplay is a very heartwarming thing. From the daily combing of the wigs to the restoration of minor creases on the school uniform, this set of photos spanned an entire blossoming season from the initial makeup test to publication, with multiple minor visual details adjusted back and forth.

When the final images came out, I felt all the investment was entirely worth it. This is not merely a character replication, but an immersive experience of stepping right into that April day. I hope this set of frames can allow people to briefly linger within that purity and gentleness, serving as a tiny souvenir of spring. The shooting process was highly enjoyable and stands as the best tribute to the original work.
