Today's styling combining a panda theme Chinese-style cosplay cute girl outfit turned out even better than expected when shot in the outdoor garden portrait. The main body of the costume is black, accented with light green piping and pankou, while the apron design at the neckline and waist adds some layering. To match the overall style, the hair was styled into twin braids, pinned with black-and-white panda hair accessories on both sides. Paired on the feet are white over-the-knee socks and black Mary Jane shoes. The silhouette of this outfit combines a Chinese mandarin collar with a Lolita-style fluffy skirt hem, which naturally fans out when walking, making it very suitable for candid shots in garden scenes.

The sunlight on the day of the shoot was very clear, and the greenery in the garden formed a great color contrast with the white walls and grey tiles of the ancient buildings. The bamboo-woven baskets and rattan balls held in hand were key props. Especially that small ball woven from rattan vines is very photogenic whether placed on top of the head or held in arms. To keep movements from looking stiff, the photographer guided me to utilize the door frames and the pillars of the corridor. For example, leaning against the heavy wooden door, holding the bronze door ring with one hand, or turning back sideways in the corridor. When sitting on the stone steps, holding a cattail leaf fan and posing as if fanning oneself also blends well into the environment. This shooting method utilizing architectural lines and frame composition not only highlights the subject but also enhances the storytelling feel of the frame.

Because it was an outdoor shoot, the lighting changed quickly, so in action design, I tried to choose static poses that can capture light and shadow. For example, sitting on a stone looking down at the basket, or half-squatting holding the rattan ball. The texture of the white over-the-knee socks and black skirt hem was rendered quite clearly under the sunlight. When leaning next to the moon gate, the sunlight happened to hit the side, and the green-and-white collar and pankou details were captured perfectly. Moreover, to showcase the playful feel of the costume, I deliberately tried a few actions like holding the rattan ball above my head or raising one leg, which not only displays the leg lines but also makes the frame more dynamic. The entire shooting process lasted for several hours; although walking outdoors wearing long socks was a bit stuffy, seeing the raw photos in the camera made all the hard work feel worth it.

The design of this outfit retains the charm of traditional Chinese mandarin collars and pankou while adding a playful feel through the short skirt and apron cuts. The material of the props is also crucial; rattan-woven and bamboo-woven items naturally carry natural textures, which fit the wooden structures and stone ground of the garden exceptionally well. The makeup artist also matched the overall tone in the makeup, using some earth tones and light green accents for the eye makeup, and a rather dewy peach color for the lip makeup, leaning overall towards a daily sweet style without being overly exaggerated, matching the cuteness of the panda hair accessories very well. During shooting breaks, slightly adjusting the position of the hair accessories, tidying up the wrinkles of the skirt hem, or even just changing the angle of the flowers in the basket slightly can make the frame look more exquisite. It is worth mentioning that candid shots taken when the wind blew the hair ribbons actually added some vibrant feelings. If preparing for this kind of outdoor shoot yourself, I suggest practicing subtraction in prop selection. Natural materials like bamboo or rattan are the least prone to errors; they not only perfectly blend with the garden scenes but also increase the layering of the photos. Costume details like pankou, green piping, and lace will get extra points during close-ups, so don't just focus on full-body photos when shooting—interspersing some half-body close-ups, like the rattan ball in hand and the panda doll at the neckline, can greatly enrich the narrative of the entire photo set. Today's styling is actually quite restricted in movement by the skirt hem, so shooting while sitting or leaning against architecture actually yielded better results than standing and walking, which can be considered a small practical experience gained from this shoot. Overall, it was a very relaxing and photogenic shooting experience. Being able to record this special Chinese-style cosplay outfit in such an antique and classical environment was a wonderful attempt.
