This photo set was completed in a classical Chinese garden. When scouting locations earlier, seeing the long covered corridors, wooden balustrades, and verdant garden trees made me feel it was an impeccable match for the palette of this skin, so we immediately chose this venue. The weather on the day of the shoot was wonderful, with sunlight filtering through leaves and spilling across the wood; the dappled light and shadow gave the entire composition rich visual texture.

The attire is a purple-and-white tube-top dress packed with intricate details, bordered with gold embroidery and tassels. To ensure a tailored silhouette, I readjusted the corset lacing at the back before shooting. The sleeves are voluminous flared bell sleeves that looked delightfully airy in the sunlight. To complement the outfit, I wore blue colored contact lenses and adjusted the eye makeup accordingly, hoping to channel the character's distinct aura. For the wig, I combed straight blunt bangs and styled looped twin buns on both sides; the delicate purple floral hairpins were so exquisite that wearing them instantly deepened my immersion.

The greatest challenge was that oversized folding fan prop. The fan bears calligraphy reading 'Ba jiao bu zhan ding xiang jie' (The plantain unfurls not, while the lilac remains knotted), and it carried considerable physical weight. Holding it single-handedly or shifting angles required constant exertion from my arm and core—my shoulders were aching intensely after the shoot. While posing, I had to be mindful at all times that the fan didn't block the light or obscure my face, while keeping as much of the fan surface visible in frame as possible. Several poses required leaning against railings or sitting on stone steps with crossed legs; though they appeared effortless, the purple platform shoes played a major role in keeping balance, while also making me tread with extra caution on the stone steps.

The shoot was a true test of patience, but the finished results were genuinely gratifying. To avoid peak visitor crowds, we deliberately started shooting early in the morning. The photographer constantly guided my gaze and emotions, encouraging me to explore varied perspectives—such as glancing back along the covered corridor or sitting poised beside the pavilion. Distinct poses paired with subtle expressions brought out different facets of the character. With the addition of the blue lenses, my gaze carried a cool, serene depth, creating a tranquil overall ambiance for this Garden portrait.

When doing outdoor location shoots for characters with large-scale props, planning the route in advance and confirming prop logistics is essential. Framing within the garden allowed us to leverage architectural lines, blending the subject seamlessly into the surroundings. The purple outfit stood out brilliantly against the lush green backdrop. This Traditional Chinese style cosplay shoot was a fantastic experience and a hands-on exploration of understanding Xiao Qiao Cosplay and her Lilac Knot skin. From costume maintenance to pose choreography, every detail was carefully polished to bring these frames to life.
