[Gawr Gura cosplay] Gura the Little Shark's Sunny Summer Sky

For this Gawr Gura cosplay of Gura the little shark, the main focus was utilizing strong sunlight to create a natural high-key filter effect. To make the images look clear and translucent, I applied a very thin base makeup and put extra effort into the eye makeup and blush, using sheer pink tones to offset any paleness under intense light. For the outfit, I chose a loose white T-shirt styled to drop off one shoulder to add a touch of casual ease. Since this look didn't involve complex fabrics, showcasing the legs became key; I opted for pure white ankle socks. This pairing of White socks with bare legs brings out a great, clean skin texture under bright light.

There were actually many details to watch out for during shooting. The NYA tag across the chest was hung by a thin thread, swinging around with even slight movements. The fluffy cat paws in my hands were adorable, but due to their large size, they easily cast harsh shadows under the light, requiring constant angle adjustments when raising my hands so they wouldn't block my face. The blue tail behind me was made of soft silicone and plush fur; sitting cross-legged easily flattened it, so I had to stand up every few shots to fluff the tail fur and keep it looking plump and round.

This shoot took place by a bright, open window where the afternoon sun was intense, interweaving backlighting and rim lighting. I tried various poses—crouching, sitting cross-legged, letting my legs dangle—mainly aiming to capture casual and languid movements. The photographer's framing was very deliberate, cleverly utilizing the surrounding white walls, spherical sculptures, and outdoor greenery as a backdrop, using a wide aperture to blur the background so the visual focus remained entirely on the character. In a backlit setting, catchlights in the eyes become very prominent and bright, which fits the character's sparkling, lively nature.

I believe this high-exposure, high-contrast style—while demanding a lot in makeup and posing—is the easiest way to achieve that soft, dreamy quality. For a style centered on pure, cute, and minimalist aesthetics, the biggest test lies in lighting and the model's body language. Every time I changed poses, I had to sense the angle of the sunlight carefully, aiming to let the light trace the edges of my hair to form beautiful rim light. These photos essentially preserve that clean tone, and I did my best to work with the lens to convey the feeling of a little cat basking in the sun by the windowsill. Though the Anime-style photography process was hot and exhausting, being able to perfectly capture the desired atmosphere made it totally worth it.
