[Cyrene cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail White Studio Photoshoot & Light/Shadow Record

To bring Cyrene's ethereal, dreamlike aura from Honkai: Star Rail to life, I was intimately involved in designing the studio lighting concept from start to finish. Rather than choosing complex realistic sets, we built a pure white cyclorama studio, relying entirely on lighting and color gradients to craft the mood. The central palette was tuned to a vibrant pink-purple tone with 100% saturation, strictly designed to cast the cleanest gradient ambiance over the pure white background.

Lighting placement was undeniably the centerpiece of this shoot. For the key light, we used a 500W strobe paired with a 90cm deep parabolic softbox to ensure my facial features were brightly illuminated while preserving dimensional depth. To avoid harsh, unflattering single-source shadows, I added a 100W fill light fitted with a 55cm octabox, specifically dedicated to softening facial shadows and rendering skin textures delicate and smooth. Most uniquely, to emulate the character's canonical polycoria (double pupils), I crafted distinctive dual catchlights within the eyes using precise light angles, instilling an enigmatic allure through the lens. For the rim light, a 200W unit equipped with a standard reflector and honeycomb grid cleanly traced the flyaway hair strands and skirt contours, all locked at a uniform 6500K color temperature to maintain a crisp frame devoid of messy ambient color spill.

The wig was chosen with a pink base transitioning into a light blue gradient, accessorized with elf ears, a silver-leaf blue floral crown, a floating halo, and a translucent veil to enrich the overall head silhouette. The dress held abundant details: intricate fantasy motifs adorned the bodice, transitioning from a white top into an expansive gradient purple gown finished with sheer white chiffon ruffles along the hem. For the legs, I wore white vine-patterned stockings paired with nude high heels featuring clear soles, which caught subtle specular highlights beneath the lights to elongate my body line.

During the shoot, I carried a bouquet of gradient pink, blue, and white roses, alongside an ash-purple fantasy bow. In the bow shot, I aimed to capture the dynamic tension of drawing the bowstring, using the leg extension and the flared gown to fill the frame with compositional fullness. When not holding the bow, resting the bouquet across my lap or lightly pinching the veil with one hand while gazing directly into the lens—synergized with the polycoria lighting—projected an immensely grounded presence.

Because I adore this character so deeply, I scrutinized every nuance of lighting and composition, striving to realize my vision from bottom fill to rim lighting. The final images truly realized Cyrene's whimsical, dreamlike grace.
