[Neptune cosplay] Azur Lane Rabbit-eared Sheriff: Pairing a Glossy latex bodysuit with a Police Cap

For this shoot, I chose the Rabbit-eared Sheriff look of Neptune from Azur Lane. From the moment this outfit was decided, I had high expectations for recreating the Glossy latex bodysuit and the peaked cap; the actual fitting and shoot delivered visual results that fully matched our vision.

First, let's talk about the costume components and details. The dark blue police cap has a structured, crisp silhouette; the golden shell badge on the crown band serves as a finishing touch, which, combined with the signature silver-white piping, instantly gives the hat a solid textural presence. The bunny ears atop the cap feature a pink-and-white color-blocked design—their fluffy texture creates a wonderful contrast with the rigid police cap, capturing the very essence of this character styling.

The black Glossy latex bodysuit was the piece that required the most effort in this coordination. This material is exceptionally demanding when it comes to lighting: overly harsh reflections risk looking greasy, while lighting that is too dim fails to accentuate the unique sheen and body contours of latex. In practice, since the bodysuit fits snugly, I layered it with a white collared shirt and a bright red tie to complement the ensemble. The tie's color is strikingly vibrant, serving as the visual focal point amidst Neptune's signature cyan-blue palette. The dark blue uniform jacket draped over the shoulders features gold piping, lending the overall look both the discipline of an officer and a touch of effortless cool.

The wig was styled in Neptune's iconic bright cyan-blue, featuring twin-tails and blunt bangs that create a bold color contrast with the black latex suit. For makeup, I chose a cool yet three-dimensional style; the amber-colored contacts nicely balanced the overall cool color palette, lending the facial expression a focused, expressive look. During the shoot, this Black tights outfit paired with high heels beautifully elongated the leg lines, adding dynamic tension to the pose sitting on the sofa.

We chose an indoor set equipped with control consoles and electronic instruments as our backdrop. The neatly aligned cabinets, buttons, and power units in the background complemented the character's sci-fi tech and uniform attributes. During shooting, we prioritized contrasting warm and cool ambient light: cool blue light spots illuminated the equipment in the background, while warm orange fill light sculpted the contours of my face and body. This lighting setup carved out strong dimensionality in the frame, making the glossy highlights along the contours of the Glossy latex bodysuit exceptionally crisp.

What satisfied me most throughout this set was the control of posing. Sitting on a light camel leather sofa with one leg slightly raised, complemented by a black-and-white houndstooth cushion, gave the composition a well-balanced visual harmony. To embody the character's disposition, I had to balance an officer's sharpness with her inherent playfulness—tilting the cap slightly lower or raising my chin deliberately brought out distinct emotional nuances. Although wearing a Glossy latex bodysuit restricts breathing and movement to some extent, persevering for the sake of the final images was completely worthwhile.

Placing this uniform-themed styling in an environment infused with industrial vibes and minimalist furniture gave the photoshoot a solid, grounded texture. Although there are overlapping machinery and instruments in the frame, it never felt cluttered; instead, it seamlessly fused Neptune's tech-oriented and uniform characteristics. Every time I cosplay a character with such strong visual design, seeing the final refined details makes all the prep work and on-site trials feel truly meaningful.
