This black and white bunny maid outfit was specially prepared and customized to recreate the character Formidable from Azur Lane. The core of this shoot lies in using exaggerated perspective and angles with a certain playful yet commanding presence to present the character's traits.
Let's first talk about the choice of clothing and accessories. The entire outfit utilizes a black-and-white color contrast; the black plush bunny ears have a strong sense of shape and are adorned with lace and bows, echoing the short black-and-white ruffled dress. The large area of white tights and black lace-up high heels form a highly distinct visual contrast, which is also a very recognizable element in the character's design. To stay true to the character setting, a light blonde long straight wig was used for the hairstyle, and the straight bangs framed the face perfectly, making the facial features look more delicate.
The scene chosen on the day of the shoot was a European-style sofa with vintage carvings and fabric textures, and the wooden background wall panels also set a somewhat gorgeous yet calm atmosphere for the overall picture. When framing the composition, I deliberately tried a rather exaggerated perspective angle by pointing the soles of my shoes toward the camera. This composition breaks the conventional eye-level view of the character, visually elongating the leg lines while also bringing a strong visual impact and sense of interaction to the audience through the foreshortening effect. Paired with my posture of resting my chin on one hand and leaning my body slightly, it perfectly conveys the character's proud, playful, and even slightly mischievous demeanor.
In terms of makeup, to reflect the character's gaze characteristics, I enhanced the eye makeup, using red contact lenses paired with heavier lower eyeshadow and well-defined eyelashes to make the eyes look more focused and sharp. The lip color chosen was a bright matte red, brightening the overall skin tone. During the shooting process, it was also necessary to pay attention to how well the edges of the wig adhered to avoid exposing flaws. We utilized the venue's lighting for fill light, focusing on highlighting the texture of the face and white tights, letting the highlights fall in the appropriate positions to make the layers of the main subject more three-dimensional.
During post-processing, I mainly enhanced the purity of the colors, keeping the skin tone fair and translucent while moderately darkening the background and black clothing parts, thereby highlighting the visual centrality of the bunny ears and white tights. Now that this photo is released, I feel that its novelty in composition and its accuracy in restoring the character's temperament are quite well done. As a targeted cosplay attempt, from costume production to hair and makeup coordination, and then to the guidance of movements during the actual shoot, the whole process was very fulfilling. In fact, behind every seemingly simple angle, it requires repeated cooperation between the photographer and the model to find the most perfect moment, ultimately presenting this vintage atmosphere that is both elegant and a bit whimsically cute.
