These delivered convention cuts from CPG 08 were retouched a while ago, and I finally have time today to compile and share them. The cosplayer in the frame is myself. This outfit revolves around a black-and-pink color-block Gothic style design, and the overarching aesthetic is remarkably eye-catching. The wig features a black base infused with pink streaks, paired with a black-and-pink cross eyepatch over the left eye for intense visual punch. The mini top hat is flanked by dainty bat wings, while the massive pink bat wings prop mounted on my back drew plenty of admiring glances across the convention floor.
The wardrobe's details are exceptionally well-crafted: the neckline is accented by a pink ribbon bow paired with a silver metallic brooch, and the chest features a black heart-shaped cutout embellishment. The skirt embraces a tiered silhouette, with black lace on the outer layer and vivid pleated pink ruffles underneath, generating rich dimension as I walked. My hands wore glossy, snug-fitting long pink gloves that offered smooth dexterity when holding props. In my hand was a magical staff prop featuring a silver grip and pink crest accents, harmonizing seamlessly with the total ensemble.
The lower-body styling is a personal favorite: sheer Black stockings, a black thigh garter with a heart pendant on the right leg, and glossy black patent chunky-heeled lace-up Mary Janes on my feet. Walking the convention floor in this footwear for an entire day was undeniably tiring on the feet, but the overall presentation was worth it. The interplay of Black stockings and the garter band visually elongated my leg lines; when I sat on the luggage case, the photographer picked a low angle that flattered the leg contours and the delicate grain of the tights.
This series was captured directly on the con floor, set against grey-and-white square floor tiles and glass partition doors amid heavy foot traffic and intricate lighting. To achieve better results, we scouted a relatively quiet corner to test both seated and standing poses. Perching atop the silver metallic luggage case, I leaned slightly to the side with one leg lifted naturally to highlight the synergy between the high heels and Black stockings. Standing upright, I lifted the skirt hem subtly to let the back wings expand fully, channeling an airy, dynamic presence.
Speaking of the inspiration behind this look, it originated from Azur Lane's character designs; the striking black-and-pink scheme and theatrical wings left a deep impression on me, inspiring me to assemble this styling for the expo. Grooming the wig took considerable time, as the pink streaks had to be handled separately to ensure a seamless transition into the black base. Makeup highlighted the eyes, utilizing reddish eyeshadow tones to complement the pink accents.
Many fellow enthusiasts stopped by for photos at the venue, and everyone was incredibly welcoming. While the fabric wasn't excessively heavy, navigating crowded aisles with layered ruffles and wide wings required constant vigilance to avoid bumping into passersby. After an exhausting full day of shooting, seeing the finished cuts made every ounce of effort worthwhile. The black-and-pink Gothic aesthetic stood out brilliantly at the convention, hitting every expectation in chromatic contrast and prop execution. I look forward to experimenting with more diverse character styles and capturing more wonderful moments at future conventions.
