I chose Shinano's swimsuit look from Azur Lane as the theme for this outdoor photoshoot. Featuring light blue animal ears, long silver hair, and a white lace mesh dress, it genuinely complements the refreshing summer poolside vibe in a real outdoor setting. Wearing this outfit was actually quite comfortable because the materials mainly consist of lightweight mesh and semi-transparent lace. The thin blue satin ribbon bow at the chest acts as a visual focal point, and the overall breathability prevented any feeling of stuffiness. That said, shooting under the blazing sun with a light-colored wig was quite a test, but fortunately, on a sunny day, the light refracted off the water cast a gorgeous halo over the white dress.

For this shoot, I specially chose a transparent swim ring with silver glitter as a prop. Its clear texture allowed it to blend seamlessly into the sparkling water surface when partially submerged. When designing poses, I referenced the lazy yet slightly mysterious demeanor from the game's original artwork. The first photo features a kneeling pose, slightly turned to the side, where flicking hair with a hand neatly showcases the lace choker around the neck and the golden bracelet. The glittery swim ring held at my side fills the empty frame without stealing the spotlight. The second photo shows me sitting on the pool edge with legs naturally dipped in the water; the wet white dress clinging slightly to the legs adds a realistic sense of water interaction, and this angle also accentuates the gentle softness of the overall silhouette.

Aiming for a more relaxed and refreshing presentation, I toned down heavy eyeshadow and opted for a luminous, clear base makeup to accentuate natural facial contours, paired with a soft-toned lipstick to evoke the pure essence of a water spirit. The main challenge of the shoot was the rapidly changing light at the outdoor pool; direct midday sun creates harsh top-down lighting that casts unflattering shadows on the face. Therefore, we chose to shoot after 3:00 PM when the sunlight softened, using the blue reflections from the water to bounce fill light onto the face for an even, translucent complexion. During shooting, I also had to take extra care not to snag the dress on rough edge tiles and prevent the wig from frizzing due to moisture. While this semi-submerged shooting style causes some wear and tear on gear and costumes, the resulting anime-style photography shots are bursting with vitality.

Many passersby were curious about what I was doing by the pool in this costume, and some even floated swim rings over, creating spontaneous interactive backgrounds. In fact, doing anime character location shoots outdoors is all about seamlessly incorporating unexpected ambient elements. Looking back at these photos, I was reminded of the line about rescuing a fox under the snowy mountain mentioned in the caption. Even though our scene is a hot summer poolside without snow or mountains, the character's interpretation and this airy white attire genuinely create a dreamlike, season-crossing aesthetic. When cosplaying characters with water elements in a swimsuit cosplay, water protection and safety are paramount—make sure to prepare wigs and clothing with simple precautions before entering the water and minimize time spent in it.

If you want to try this poolside swimsuit cosplay style, I recommend shooting in the morning or late afternoon, where clear light allows you to capture beautiful shimmering ripples. For summer outdoor shoots, always prepare plenty of drinking water and sunscreen spray, as sessions often last two to three hours and skin can easily get sunburned. In this set, everything from subtle garment folds to hair flow was finely tuned, hoping to express Shinano's gentle and elegant temperament. The splash of pool water today was a completely different experience from conventions, and I was thrilled to complete such a crisp piece under natural light. Under the hazy mist filter of water vapor, the look truly gave an illusion of stepping out of a fairy tale. I hope you can also feel this refreshing, healing comfort.
