Cosplaying Elysia from Honkai Impact 3rd today at Chengdu CD30, this Maid outfit design is truly unique. The short pink hair underwent custom texturing and trimming; to match the character's original contours, the wisps along the forehead were set firmly with hairspray. The elf ear props were chosen in skin-friendly materials, which paired with bright blue contact lenses in the eye makeup to faithfully recreate her signature expression before the lens.
Cosmetics focused heavily on the eyes and blush. Elysia's eye shape leans round and doe-like, so aegyo-sal and subtle lower lash line down-sloping were drawn in. The contact lenses were chosen in luminous cyan-blue to give her gaze an innocent, gentle look. Blush was dusted below the eyes and across the tip of the nose for an energetic touch, finished with a dewy-finish lip tint to preserve sheer clarity across the entire face.
Regarding the wardrobe, the white puff sleeves, navy skirt hem, black bodice criss-cross straps, and clavicle cutouts tended to shift while walking, requiring constant realignment before every shot. The massive white blossom and lavender satin ribbons at the waist caught glares easily beneath expo hall lights, prompting the photographer to avoid direct beams and rely on side rim-lighting to carve out crisp three-dimensional texture.
Because walking in heels all day across the venue was exhausting, I spent most of my time resting in the seating zone. While shooting seated, crossing my legs visually elongated proportions while letting the navy pleats cascade naturally, complementing the white lace thigh-high socks to accentuate leg contours. For standing shots, lightly pinching the skirt hem required slight wrist torque; tilting my head gently brought out playful kinetic charm in a static frame. Hand gestures cannot remain stiff—holding a blossom or lifting the hemline keeps everything organic.
The Chengdu Anime Convention hall is cavernous, making overhead lighting notoriously harsh. Convention photos primarily rely on capturing softer ambient light around the edges of the hall or using low-angle upward framing to dodge dark eye-socket shadows. Post-processing mostly calibrated color temperature: mixed light sources inside the venue often turned the pink wig drab and grayish, so masking was used to lift brightness and infuse subtle magenta, restoring the shade faithful to the original character design. In massive gatherings like Chengdu Anime Convention, crowded aisles make shielding props and fixing styling routine. I even had to re-pin areas in the lounge to ensure the silhouette contoured my waistline snugly and avoided wardrobe mishaps.
Navigating the hall in this coordinate was a real test of stamina, especially pairing stilettos with White stockings. Nevertheless, meeting so many passionate Honkai Impact 3rd fans who greeted me warmly was delightful. Swapping tips on fabric selection and wig maintenance with fellow cosplayers remains one of the greatest joys of conventions. Wrapping this shoot left my feet aching, but seeing the interplay of light and shadow across the lace and skirt in the final images made every effort worthwhile. Next up: heading home to properly condition the wig in preparation for the next event's shoot.
