Today, I shot a set of Korean preppy style portraits along the railway in Shenzhen for this Shenzhen photoshoot. The navy blazer paired with a light blue dress shirt and diagonal striped tie gives an exceptionally crisp, clean visual aesthetic. A gray pleated skirt and White stockings serve as classic preppy staples in this JK uniform, paired with black loafers and a leather messenger bag, where the metallic buckles on the details elevate the tactile texture significantly. To break away from standard conventional docility, we specifically prepared a prop gun and a vintage DV camcorder for this shoot. Against the backdrop of clear blue skies, white clouds, and industrial Railway scenery, these two props instantly transformed the ambiance from a routine school photoshoot into a narrative-rich, cinematic scene.
The sunshine was blazing on the day of the shoot; harsh, direct light fell squarely across my face and the train tracks. While it posed quite a test for base makeup, the rich color saturation and strong chiaroscuro contrast in the finished images actually forged a uniquely striking texture. Low-angle upward perspectives paired with prop-holding poses visually elongated the silhouette and accentuated commanding poise. Many friends often ask what matters most when taking stunning photos; I consistently believe it comes down to preliminary communication and on-set directing. If you don't know where to rest your hands or freeze with stiff facial expressions before the lens, the final outcome will suffer greatly. As the model being photographed, you need continuous, concrete cues from the photographer—such as where to direct your gaze, which foot to anchor your center of gravity on, and how to hold props to maximize visual tension.
In this collection, there are cool, edgy moments aiming the prop gun at the lens, alongside playful frames sitting on the steps winking into the camcorder. Whether leaning against railings to gaze into the distance or strolling beside the grassy verge, every press of the shutter captured the most spontaneous state of the moment. Finding a spot featuring train tracks and locomotive backdrops in Shenzhen required some effort, but seeing the final cuts made all the running around thoroughly worthwhile in this Shenzhen photoshoot. This photoshoot didn't deliberately imitate a specific anime or video game character; it purely showcased an aesthetic fusing youth with subtle biker and suspenseful cinematic elements in Korean preppy style. Through garment tailoring, prop coordination, and scenic selection against Railway scenery, we created a distinct aesthetic of contrast. From styling to location scouting, every stage explored fresh creative possibilities.
