Today, I shot a set of JK uniform photos in a classroom, with the overarching vibe leaning into a lively Campus style. The outfit is a classic navy-and-white sailor suit; the vibrant red bow tie at the chest really enlivens the complexion, paired with a dark navy pleated skirt below for an exceptionally harmonious color balance. To infuse an anime-inspired charm, I accessorized with thick black-framed glasses, a cat ear headpiece with white fuzzy fleece trim, and fastened my twin tails with white plush hair scrunchies, giving the overall styling a delightful touch of gap-moe. For the lower half, I opted for White stockings paired with black buckled loafers—a coordination that photographs wonderfully in an everyday setting like this Classroom photoshoot.
The centerpiece prop for this shoot was a bright red Japanese-style backpack. Its color is remarkably striking, serving as an eye-catching accent against the dark navy and white garments, breaking up any visual monotony. In addition to the backpack, I brought along several manga books to hold in my hands or balance playfully on my head; incorporating these props gave the photos a much stronger narrative flavor.
To stay true to the Energetic girl theme, I explored a wide variety of poses. Perched on a school desk, leaning forward slightly while cupping my cheeks with hands resting on the backpack, with legs naturally crossed—this posture accentuated the crisp pleats of the skirt and the smooth texture of the stockings. Sitting on a chair, I struck lively hand gestures while keeping my gaze softly relaxed. For the sequence seated on the floor, stretching my legs forward while leaning back against the red backpack, one hand adjusting my glasses and the other lightly clenched into a fist—this expansive pose fully showcased the White stockings and graceful leg contours. Standing before the teacher's podium with the backpack on and arms outstretched, or raising a manga book above my head, also made for fantastic compositional choices.
From a technical perspective, several details demand special attention when photographing a JK uniform. First are the skirt pleats: always smooth them down by hand when sitting down or standing up to preserve the sharp, knife-edge lines of the pleated skirt so the silhouette remains crisp. Then come the White stockings: make sure they are pulled up smoothly and evenly when worn, preventing bunching around the ankles which would disrupt the visual lengthening of the legs. The positioning of the glasses and cat ear headpiece should also be checked in front of the lens in advance so they don't tilt askew during dynamic movement.
In terms of lighting, the natural side-light pouring into the classroom was gorgeous. Sunlight filtered through the windows onto the White stockings and red backpack, giving them rich, vivid texture. I deliberately retained warm golden tones in the grading to infuse a nostalgic campus atmosphere while rendering skin tones soft and luminous. In front of the camera, since the uniform itself is very sweet and well-behaved, I didn't force excessive cute pouting; instead, I kept a relaxed, slightly daydreamy expression. This evoked the authentic feeling of a schoolgirl simply spending a regular classroom break, making it all the more endearing to viewers.
Looking over the entire collection, the contrasting color combination of red, white, and navy blue was a great success—blending a youthful campus vibe with personal character. Given the opportunity in the future, I look forward to doing another Classroom photoshoot in different classrooms, utilizing varied arrangements of desks and chairs to enrich composition and explore even more visual possibilities as an Energetic girl.
