In this post, I'm sharing the photoshoot of Chocola from NEKOPARA. To align with the character's design, I selected a translucent base paired with large-diameter brown colored contacts, downward-extended puppy eyeliner, lush long lashes, and soft, rounded blush, striving to project a youthful, adorable 2D aesthetic before the lens using Sweet-style makeup. The costume centers around a classic black-and-white maid dress accented with pink trims; for fabric, I deliberately chose structured, crisp materials so it wouldn't easily deform while rolling around in the ball pit. The cat ears and ruffled white headpiece are also focal points of this Animal ear maid cosplay, effectively enhancing the character's playful charm.
This photo series was captured in a pink ocean ball pit. I spent a long time discussing ideas with the photographer beforehand, because posing while lying down among ocean balls is actually a rigorous test of body language—the wrong pose makes you easily look swallowed up by the balls. For instance, in Photo 2, we used a low-angle upward perspective; this composition elongates the leg lines to the utmost, where the Black tights outfit created a striking visual contrast against the pastel macaron palette of pink, blue, and green balls—not only visually slimming, but highlighting the sultry appeal of long legs. Resting my legs across the balls was also carefully measured, needing to keep leg contours natural while engaging the core, otherwise one easily appears bulky on soft balls.
Photo 3 features a proper seated pose; this angle tests facial expression and chest contour presentation, where lightly lifting an arm to tidy my hair infuses dynamic motion into the subject. During shooting, opening up the aperture to blur the balls in the foreground forged an extraordinarily dreamy atmosphere. In shoots of this sweet style, lighting is pivotal: we utilized a large softbox to eliminate facial shadows as much as possible, giving the skin a baby-smooth texture after post-processing. In styling, I added white lace wrist cuffs, enriching details without overpowering the primary focus on the face. For the classic pairing of a maid outfit with black tights, I deliberately intensified the lip color—vibrant orange-red lipstick brightened my complexion amidst the pink ambient environment, lending a livelier aura. Since playing with balls like a kitty is inherently relaxing, I imagined myself as that mischievous cat during shooting, striking cat-paw ball-swatting poses to make the visuals feel spontaneous and the sweetness more authentic. For the makeup, blush and eyeshadow shared the same pink-coral tones, creating great cohesion across the face and avoiding any gaudy heaviness. For this look paired with short bangs, I slightly trimmed the wig's fringe to sit just above the eyebrows, showcasing big eyes without obstructing vision. The overall style merged sweetness with sultry allure; combining the dreamy ball pit backdrop with the visual punch of black-tights legs made for a truly wonderful experience.
