[Souda cosplay] Goddess of Victory: NIKKE: Boba Shop Shift Diary at the Offline Collaboration

For the weekend US offline NIKKE collaboration, I spent a day 'working' as a Souda maid at Xing Fu Tang. This tactical tech-wear Maid outfit cosplay paired with long blonde hair truly took quite some time to assemble. The white ruffled headpiece, black-and-white dress, bright yellow cummerbund, and signature black thigh ring of this Black tights outfit each formed the soul of the character. Today I was genuinely here to 'work,' and inside this Taiwanese-style boba shop, it sparked a wonderful chemical reaction with the surrounding American street environment.

Standing under the neon signs holding a plastic cup printed with collaboration artwork, the feeling of the 2D-3D barrier breaking felt so real. Many passing foreign friends were drawn to the outfit; even if they didn't necessarily know what game it was from, they always complimented how great the costume looked. The event promotional materials on site were also very rich—beyond custom boba cups, there were flyers and exclusive collaboration merchandise.

Another gorgeous cosplayer joined as my partner; we portrayed different characters and had great chemistry before the camera. Especially when showcasing the collaboration elements, she handled the cool, stoic expressions while I focused on bringing vibrant, energetic charm to liven up the atmosphere. This gap-moe pairing always yields fantastic interactive photos. Striking poses before the display boards or holding up different flavors of milk tea felt less like rigid posing and more like genuine players visiting and checking out a cafe.

Although navigating the store in a long wig, slightly constricting uniform, and thigh ring was tiring, it was all worth it to faithfully recreate the character's design. When portraying Souda (Souda cosplay), I intentionally kept energetic red lips and defined eye makeup so I'd look spirited on camera. As a cosplayer, I believe the key to bringing a character to life isn't just the clothes, but also subtle, unscripted nuances—like slightly raising a pinky while sipping a drink or winking at the camera.

After a full day of 'working the shift,' my cheeks were sore from smiling, but my heart was deeply fulfilled. I especially loved chatting with other players on site—like someone coming over with an in-game screenshot to ask if I was really cosplaying her; that thrilling surprise of being recognized is the greatest motivation every time I cosplay. Of course, wrapping up the event with a cup of their signature Brown Sugar Boba was the sweetest reward for a hard day's 'work.' This Offline collaboration not only let me experience the character's charm firsthand but also let me feel the immense popularity of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE overseas. The photographer also worked hard to deliver these polished photos, scouting the best lighting angles inside and outside the store—from profile shots by the glass storefront to full-group photos on the outdoor steps, every shot captured an authentic portrait of our cross-dimensional part-time shift. Looking at everyone gathered with boba cups for a group photo, the shared unspoken bond among fellow fans offline felt extraordinarily special.
