[Ganyu Cosplay] Blue and White Maid Outfit Experiment for Genshin Impact's Yuheng Star

In Genshin Impact, Ganyu's persona has always been calm and reliable, but this shoot attempted to express a different side of her through costume styling. This blue-and-white Maid outfit cosplay featuring ruffles and lace, combined with her signature red-and-black dual horns, had me looking forward to the shoot long before hitting the record button.

The color palette for the entire outfit referenced Ganyu's original icy blue and white, with everything from wig color selection to accessory details carefully deliberated. I used to think if Ganyu wore modern styles she would follow a cool, aloof route, but trying this modified maid dress with lace and bows made me realize her blue, white, and black tricolor feature is actually incredibly versatile. The strapless bustier top features a black base with small gold bow accents, replicating her character's gold elements while adding a touch of refinement and sweetness.

Fabric layering is the standout highlight of this outfit. The skirt hem is spliced from several fabric layers of varying textures: the outermost layer is a white lace skirt with blue-trimmed pleats, while the inner lining is a glossy blue satin. This layered visual effect gives the entire dress a lovely drape even when standing still. Large areas of wavy ruffles and lace trimming were used at the cuffs and neckline, nicely framing the arm and collarbone lines while creating soft, graceful arcs during arm raises or spins. Regarding wig care, long wavy light blue hair easily looks frizzy if not styled properly. I specifically layered and trimmed the tips, applying hair wax to boost texture so it stays volumized without obscuring the collar and shoulder design of the dress.

Securing the red horns was another technical task. Not only did they need to fit securely, but a crucial detail was that they couldn't cover the ears; otherwise, it would feel uncomfortable to wear and look stiff in camera angles. Ultimately, I used U-shaped pins and invisible hairnets inside the wig to anchor the horns firmly on both sides of my head, ensuring they stayed secure even during sharp head turns. For makeup, I selected a translucent base paired with coral-toned lipstick, using eyeshadow to emphasize eye contours to balance out the cool tones of the outfit and add approachable warmth.

The photos presented here actually reflect a continuous state change. Image one displays the look with white patent leather stiletto heels, where the glossy lacquer finish renders the overall styling complete, while high heels visually extend the lower body proportions to bolster the ensemble's presence. Image two sheds the heels, retaining only the subtle pearlescent sheer Black tights outfit; in this state, leg lines appear softer, creating a classic black-and-white contrast against the white rug and ottoman. Image three removes all constraints, exposing bare feet, which combined with the plush rug texture conveys a cozy sense of complete relaxation.

The hardest part during shooting was actually maintaining sitting postures. Short skirts, seated poses, and slick plush rugs make slipping or exposure easy, so thorough physical precautions—including safety shorts and center-of-gravity adjustments—were essential before shooting. For lighting, overhead soft light paired with front fill light beautifully outlined the layers of white and blue fabric, especially making sleeve cuffs and skirt ruffles appear 3D and lively under light contrast.

Cosplay is more than just putting on clothes; posing and mood management are vital aspects. I chose a pose with one leg bent and the other extended, achieving a dynamic stretched feel without making seated short-skirt poses look stiff or constrained. The ambiance this photoset aims to convey is Ganyu relaxing outside of work—shedding her busy routine as secretary to the Qixing to reveal playful, cozy home warmth in this Genshin Impact cosplay.
