[Jeanne d'Arc (Alter) cosplay] Dark Gothic Style Aesthetics and Study Portraits in Fate/Grand Order

When shooting this set of Jeanne d'Arc (Alter) cosplay photos, I mainly wanted to recreate that feeling of the character quietly observing others in a dark study, so the scene was set in a room with vintage furniture and walls lined with books.

For this look, I chose a purple satin evening gown, paired with Black stockings cosplay and red-soled ultra-high heels. The skirt hem has a massive volume, so when sitting down, quite some effort is needed to arrange the hem smoothly; otherwise, it bunches up into a wrinkled mess. The purple satin fabric is highly reflective, so lighting required avoiding large blown-out highlights to preserve its flowing, liquid-like texture as much as possible. Under warm lighting, the black stockings reveal subtle skin-toned highlights, which was also crucial during post-processing color grading.

Since this was a self-shoot where the cosplayer and photographer were the same person, adjusting positioning and framing was genuinely exhausting. In poses like the crossed-leg shot raising a wine glass in the second photo, I had to lock the camera focus while keeping my toes pointed and tense, all while maintaining a tsundere and aloof expression—it took countless takes before picking a satisfying shot. The bookshelf behind was an absolute plus, with multi-colored book spines forming a warm-cool contrast against the purple outfit. The leather sofa with tufted buttons looked exceptionally luxurious. To match the character's persona, I also prepared a red wine glass and withered floral arrangements to add a touch of demonic or villainous flair.

Because the high heels were extremely tall, my toes hurt quite a bit after shooting. The shots where I took off my shoes were mainly to highlight the graceful lines of the legs enveloped in stockings, extending the posture to look even longer and more slender. During shooting, the spotlight angles easily cast unflattering shadows on the face, requiring repeated testing of light placement to ensure a natural blend between light and shadow so the subject stands out firmly. Post-processing was also tricky: marks from the stockings had to be retouched naturally, and using the liquefy tool on leg contours couldn't be overdone to avoid making the lighting look artificial. That shoe-free set came about because I truly couldn't stand any longer, but it unexpectedly captured a languid, casual beauty that felt pleasantly surprising.

The entire set and props were perfectly suited for this Dark Gothic style vintage aesthetic. Post-processing mainly added a subtle vignette to make the central subject pop even more. Overall, this set of Anime cosplay photos achieved both great environmental fidelity and the character's commanding aura.
