The shooting process for this Convention photo went much smoother than expected. We chose a time when the expo was about to close—there were fewer people around and the ambient light was softer, which was ideal for capturing this pure White dress. To faithfully recreate Irisviel von Einzbern, I prepared long blonde hair, a translucent veil with intricate lace patterns, and this White dress adorned with gold trim. The core prop was this glowing orb, which actually had a high-intensity fill light stuffed inside; it was very glaring to hold in hand, testing both arm strength and control over facial lighting while posing.

During the shoot, we mainly tried three poses to convey the character's temperament. In the first shot, I held the orb with both hands in front of my chest, looking slightly down at the glowing sphere—a gentle pose, though with the orb right at the chest, the uplighting on the face was strong, requiring continuous focus. The second shot, which is the cover photo, features me turning sideways while holding the orb with one hand, slightly lifting the other arm to reveal the shoulder line, and looking directly into the lens. This composition was specially guided by photographer Liangbaikai to emphasize shoulder depth and the outfit's tailoring; we fine-tuned the angle for quite a while to ensure the subject wasn't near the frame's edge and the visual center of gravity remained stable. The third shot shows one hand reaching forward, as if summoning or offering the glowing orb, which paired with the blurred background bokeh of the convention floor created an ethereal atmosphere.

Compared to studio shoots, a Convention photo comes with many uncontrollable factors, such as cluttered backgrounds or passersby stepping into frame. Yet that is precisely where the charm of cosplay lies—experiencing the character's presence in a real-world setting. This Photography session gave me a deeper understanding of how a White dress behaves in cool-toned environments. Although white can easily lose texture or suffer from exposure issues, against dark backgrounds and glowing props, its depth and layers actually become richer. Many thanks to Teacher Liangbaikai for capturing this moment when crowds cleared out near closing time, rescuing what could have looked like a dull grey garment with professional composition and lighting. This look carries a lot of my personal interpretation of the character, making the shoot immensely satisfying and a fantastic practical experience.
